You didn’t just all of a sudden decide to be God’s child. He handpicked you out before you were even in your mother’s womb. He purposed your existence before the foundation of the world. This mind-blowing piece of revelation isn’t news to you I’m sure, because Ephesians 1:5, 11 confirms it in God’s Word. You have a purpose, and because of this purpose within God’s Plan and Will, there have been certain things that haven’t come easy for you. You might even feel as though you’ve had more than your fair share of struggle and opposition. There may have been more people working against you than those that have worked with you, and you can’t understand why everything has to be so difficult at times. Why is it that you continue to endure hardships through the wait, and your breakthrough still hasn’t happened?
It is no secret that your breakthrough and purpose are connected. God has goals for each of us, and one of His greatest goals is for truth to become the prominent part of our nature. He wants His Word to so permeate our brain cells and hearts that when we enter a room, the first thing that people see is the Christ in us. There’s a process to this. The reason why we know it is a process is because we are not all that we are going to be at the point we first confess and give our lives to Christ. There is still yet caboodles of spiritual yumminess that we have to put on mentally and behaviorally as we journey forward in Christ.
Sisters, the one thing that you must know with every fiber in your being is that the answer to the question “Where is my breakthrough?” is contained in the piece of truth that you have yet to put on in your mind and heart. You can deny this, neglect it, and refuse to do anything about it, but every single occurrence in your life will bring you back to this reality. There is no denying that you have gained biblical knowledge and spiritual know-how over the years. This is in your arsenal right now, but as it relates to the breakthrough blessing that you are seeking for your life, there’s a specific truth that you haven’t yet comprehended on the deepest level. You haven’t comprehended it on a level that spearheads a transformation that is required for the blessing you seek.
It isn’t God’s desire that we suffer and struggle, but some of us go through it so much longer than we need to because we won’t seek God with all of our hearts, strength, souls, and minds for this particular piece of spiritual armor. His grace and mercy covers us through the struggle, but it doesn’t remove from us the responsibility to seek. It is our obligation to prove to Heavenly Father that we can handle the heft of the blessing we desire. We’re more than conquerors, and Jesus Christ has already told us in Luke 12:48(KJV) that “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” The ‘much’ that is required is an activation of increased supernatural ability through the Holy Spirit.
Everything in the universe is predicated on spiritual ability. John 1:3 tells us “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Everything that exists is made by God, and we know concretely from John 4:24 that God is a Spirit. We were made in God’s image, and life in the spirit is a must for us. In other words, we must handle life in a very spiritual way, and that way is through Jesus Christ. We must do what he did through love, prayer, and good works! Greater spiritual knowledge and know-how in Christ is the answer for every problem, condition, and situation we experience. This is why prayer in the mighty name of Jesus Christ is absolutely essential, because it places us squarely in alignment with his spiritual power. Prayer positions us mentally and spiritually, and it will cause us to physically move into the place where the flow of blessings break through walls separating the natural from the supernatural.
The exact place where you are this very moment in time is the sum total of your mental, emotional, and spiritual acumen in Christ. The environment you perceive, the people you encounter, the blessings you experience, are all a product of your past faith and efforts to seek God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Any lack that we might experience presently, or the deficits and cracks in the exterior of our comfort reveal the distance between us and the requirements necessary to get into position for greater truth and blessings. So if you are not in the place where you are seeing a breakthrough take place, you have two very important pieces of information to ponder: #1 more is required of you, and #2 it’s time to pray consistently, fervently, and specifically for spiritual growth and maturity.
God knows the potential problems and disasters that come with your future breakthrough. It is important that we understand this. We have to comprehend the degree to which the enemy will attempt to ensnare and steal from us. Jesus Christ has warned that the devil is a thief, and we need not pretend to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices; for he will be vigorous in his aim to snuff out our lights. God is our Heavenly Father, and He will lead us away from danger and help us navigate rugged terrain. The question you must ask yourself is “How are your skills at following His lead?” How did you handle it when things didn’t go your way? When the man left, did you have vengeance in your heart, or did you give it completely over to the Lord? Did you leave that sister alone when you discovered she’s a gossip, or do you still indulge her? Are you a tither? Have you increased it or are you still doing the minimum? How do you respond to pressure? Do you overreact or continue instantly in prayer?
The enemy knows that God will wonderfully reward your faithfulness, and he doesn’t want to see this happen. Don’t be tricked. Circumstances in the natural cannot dictate your response in the spiritual. Let me say this again, because if we don’t get this one, our promotions will continue to be prolonged. Our spiritual response to God’s goodness cannot be controlled by the stuff that happens in our everyday lives. Your purpose and breakthrough will inevitably intersect, and when they do, you can reach out and grab what is yours, but you will not recognize the breakthrough when it arrives if you are ill-prepared.
Your purpose is executed through a well-formed spiritual capacity and willingness to fulfill or complete that piece of God’s plan that HE has predetermined for your existence. Your breakthrough is the advantageous coordination of events and circumstances that show up when purpose is no longer a concept or abstract for you, but a way of life.
When purpose and breakthrough intersect, a habit pattern of consistency in the way you nurture your relationship with Heavenly Father must already be in existence. Your spiritual responses to everything in your environment should be grounded by the intimacy you’ve cultivated with Him through Jesus Christ. Your increasing faith should continually fortify your ability to stay firm under pressure. We should pray without ceasing all the time, not just because a crisis has come to our attention. We should speak in tongues to glorify God and to keep ourselves edified, not just because something disastrous has transpired.
Promotion in the form of breakthrough comes when the thing that was weak in a particular area of your spiritual stand is made strong. This particular area where strength is gained is the very staple that underpins your commitment to follow God no matter what the circumstances appear to be. It ensures that the negatives and positives that swing with the blessing you’ve prayed to receive do not cause you to miss a beat in your relationship with Heavenly Father.
You need to be strengthen in this area, because without it your purpose is missed and your destiny altered. It is critical that you begin now to attend your entire being to seeking God in the most earnest way that you know how. Seek to grow in the spirit and let this be your main objective. Heavenly Father is in charge of rewards; you are in charge of making sure that you’re poised spiritually to be in the right place at the right time to receive. ■
