Let the Heavens Know

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT) “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

Being a loving parent embodies all the good stuff that fills a child’s heart when they think of their mother or father. Even if we multiply the love we have for our children to the umpteenth degree, we still wouldn’t be able to comprehend the depth and vastness of Heavenly Father’s love for all of us. 1 Corinthians 2:9 tells us two very important pieces of information. The first thing it conveys is the fact that our imaginations can be extremely useful instruments. The second thing it tells us is that even if we have a great imagination, we still couldn’t come up with anything as glorious as the future God holds for us. This verse should remind us just how much God loves His children.

After we’ve been on this Christian journey for a while, some of our attitudes become a little stale and our level of expectancy wanes. Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) tells us, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” God’s goodness is never ending. He is willing and able to go exceedingly abundantly above anything that you and I can ask or think, but there is a boundary expressed in this verse as well. God will perform according to the power that works in us.

As born-again believers, we have received the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. He’s the power at work within, but so often we limit him. We have free-will, and the Spirit will not violate our free-will. It is totally our responsibility to partner with the Spirit. God makes this very clear in 1 Corinthians 2:9. One of the areas in which we see Heavenly Father prodding us forward is in our imaginations. This is because our thoughts can be so limiting. Whether it is through religions, traditions, or routines, we get stuck in a box and some of us refuse to venture outside of it.

We can’t expect to push through the next ceiling of blessings and abundance from Heavenly Father without increasing the reality of what is possible in our imaginations first. We must press ourselves to think higher and expose ourselves to as much positivity as possible. Many of us still haven’t learned how to trust God’s goodness completely, in the way that He desires us too. Philippians 4:6 (NIV) tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” This wonderful verse tells us to pray in every situation, and then be thankful as we tell God what we want. You’re not going to be truly thankful for something that you can’t even visualize. You won’t be thankful for it unless you believe it’s yours, and that it’s God’s good pleasure to give it to you. So, we limit His power by not being thankful for the fullness of His ability, and by not using our imaginations to see a higher, grander vision of victory for ourselves.

The force of inner power should press us to increase our imaginations and expect the absolute best that is available from God.  Being persistent, proactive, and on purpose means that your intentions are being activated in the right direction and on the right thing, so that the heavens recognize it and cooperate with your faith. Let the heavens know that you’re poised for what God has prepared for you. Expand your thoughts, use your imagination, and trust that God will deliver on His promises as you allow the power of the Holy Spirit to be at work within.■
