Thankful for Being Your Children

Dear Heavenly Father,

Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:4(NLT), “So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” Humility is an attitude or action that demonstrates a person’s willingness to place the needs of others before their own. It is also a quality of recognizing Your goodness and understanding that we should lean on You for everything we need. Sometimes we struggle with this. We think that we know best, and we also develop a sense of entitlement. We become wrapped up in wanting to be seen or treated a certain way, and this can cause harm to our relationship with You.

You want us to have the best. We can clearly see this because You’ve given us the best through Your Son, Jesus Christ. He is the most loving, giving, humble, and extraordinary human being that has ever lived. He gave his life for us to reveal the never-ending, unconditional quality of Your love. Through Jesus Christ, You have made us a part of Your Holy family. Ephesians 1:5 tells us that You decided in advance to adopt us into Your own family by bringing us to You, and You to us, through Jesus Christ. This was Your great pleasure, because You wanted us to be Your Sons and Daughters.

Every child has the seed of their father. You desired a people with Your seed. 1Peter 1:23 tells us that Your seed is incorruptible, and You wanted children with this same quality. Before the life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection of Christ, people were servants, not children. They could not receive Your seed because the Holy Spirit hadn’t yet come. Because of what he accomplished for us, Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, and You gave him a seat at Your right hand. Through what Christ accomplished on earth, You made it possible for us to receive Your promised seed, the Holy Spirit. Now we can be born-again with Your incorruptible seed, and we are Your children. Thank You, Father! Glory to You in the highest!

John 8:35 reminds us that a servant is not a permanent member of the family, but a son or daughter is part of the family forever. You have placed Your seed inside our inner beings through our born-again experience in Christ. Now, we are Your children. We are a part of Your family, and nothing will ever separate us from You.

This is why we must be humble, because without You, we are nothing and we can’t do anything. But Philippians 4:13 tells us that through Christ, we can do all things. Every good thing that we will ever need comes from You.

Proverbs 3:5-6(NKJV) tell us, “5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Heavenly Father help us to recognize that we are all children. Some of us have lost our way. We have been blinded by pride and will not acknowledge how desperately we need Your direction and love. Humility of heart and mind means that we are thankful to You, so please help us to see the error of our ways and humble ourselves before Your throne. Instead of trying to be like people who look glamorous but have empty hearts, we should be thanking You continuously for the privilege of being called Your sons and daughters. It is the highest honor we could ever hope to receive.

Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, love, and grace. Thank You for saving us through Jesus, and for bringing us into Your family. You are so awesome and amazing, Most Holy God. Thank You for Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Please help us to be a blessing to Your Kingdom, and let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
