Dear Heavenly Father,
The Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7 (NLT), “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” He had endured more than any of us living today can imagine. He had an intimate encounter with Your beloved Son on the Road to Damascus and was forever changed. He used to brag about being educated at the best school and being a member of upper Jewish society, but once he met the Lord Jesus Christ, he said all the other things that held importance for him at one time meant absolutely nothing. In Galatians 5:6, Paul said that the only important thing in life is faith expressing itself through love.
Many of us are very distracted, Heavenly Father. In many ways, we have allowed the enemy to steal our focus away from. Whenever this happens, we start to see our problems as too big, and our faith sinks because we haven’t spent time in Your Word. You tell us how the human mind works. You tell us that it must be constantly renewed with Your Word, because if it isn’t the enemy will trick us because we slip back to those old ways and patterns of thinking.
Faith requires the proper heartitude and attitude from us, and this means we can’t have doubt. Jesus Christ taught the disciples in Matthew 21:21(NLT), “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” We can’t get the promise without going through the process. That’s why You’ve made sure we understand that faith is a fight! We must knock down every thought that exalts itself against Your Word. If we don’t do this, we’re not going to be able to handle everything that comes with the blessing we seek. Every battle that we’ve ever encountered in life has provided an opportunity for us to toughen spiritually, and we need spiritual strength to stand and hold on to Your promises.
You don’t cause the challenges we endure, but You teach and strengthen us through them. They can help us be prepared for the next level of blessing and growth that You’re transporting us to. If we learn to have faith in You, regardless of the circumstances and conditions we face, no fight of faith will ever be lost. Heavenly Father, please open our eyes to see Your strength and power in the face of challenges and difficulty. Help us to fight the good fight of faith as we lean totally on You through the Lord Jesus Christ. Please don’t let us slip into the murk and mire of doubt but help us to be anchored in Your goodness and to cling only to You.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for giving us Your Holy Word to help strengthen and guide us in Your Will. Thank You for opening our eyes to the light of Christ, and please help us to see Your power and goodness in every situation. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
