“38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39(NLT)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us the free-will to make our own choices. You are such a loving Father, and You do not force us to do anything. Even though You always know what is best and You know the right path for us, still You allow us to choose our own paths. Because of the gift of free-will, we have the extraordinary privilege and honor to prove our commitment to You. Jesus Christ commanded us in Mark 12:30 to love You with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. This is the absolute greatest thing we can do, and Jesus says that it is more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices that were required under the Laws of Moses.
I am in awe that You have deemed our love as something that pleases You. 2Corinthians 2:15(NKJV) says, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” In and of ourselves, we could never be worthy, but because of the sacrifice of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we can stand before Your throne with no sense of guilt, sin, or condemnation! We have the fragrance of Christ before You. We’re born-again, and we’ve been set free through the Lord Jesus! You did this for us! You redeemed us through Christ because You wanted us as Your children, and You cause us to triumph in Christ!
You washed away our sins through the blood of Jesus. You gave us the best so that we can give the best back to You. We can love You not through a love that’s substandard, but with the love of Christ! This is the kind of love You seek. When a man chooses to make a woman his wife, he takes steps that demonstrate his love in a very meaningful way. First, he might ask her father for her hand in marriage. He does this to show respect towards her family—to provide them comfort that his intentions toward her is only the best. Then, he proposes to the woman he’s chosen by presenting her a ring as a token of his enduring love.
This is what You did for us. Through the sacrifice of Christ, You gave us the most precious thing You had as an offering of Your enduring, unconditional, and overwhelming love for us.
A man does all these loving things to demonstrate publicly his commitment to his fiancé. He doesn’t have to do them, he wants to; it’s his choice because he cares for her. Just as this means so very much to any bride-to-be, it means a lot to You when we choose to worship and adore You. Living by Your Word proves that we honor You as our Heavenly Father, and we are so thankful for the privilege of loving You. Regardless of our flaws and sinful ways, You love us unconditionally and tell us in Romans 8:38 that nothing will ever separate us from Your love. This is comforting beyond words.
Thank You for showing us Your love, strength, and power as we seek to grow in You and trust You with our whole hearts. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
