Dear Heavenly Father,
I heard a word this week that I absolutely fell in love with. It was inspiring to hear because I see this a lot with people who have a candy store mentality when it comes to Your blessings and empowerment. They neglect the empowerment of Your Word, and only want the rewards that come from following it. Hebrews 4:12(NLT) says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Your Word is alive! When we take hold of it and make it our own, not only will we become more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but we will grow in the strength of Your power.
Sometimes we become overzealous, and we attempt to dabble in areas and places that You have not called us to. We connect with people that we have no business making associations with, and we will even go so far as to say that You have told us to do these things. We will try to lay hands on people You’ve not assigned to our gifting, and we endeavor to employ our faith to make alive those things that died long ago. You are a God of order and peace. You tell us in Romans 8:14(NLT), “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” As Your Sons and Daughters, we must be led by the Holy Spirit to do what You’ve called us to do.
We are asking you for blessings in our prayers, but in truth, we wouldn’t need some of the things we’re asking for if we were staying in our lanes and operating according to the Spirit’s divine leadership. You desire us to learn about heaven’s economy and how it operates. There is no waste or redundancy in heaven. Everything is done precise, and there is excellent stewardship. You expect no less from us, as Your sons and daughters. We are to use Your resources wisely. This means we understand that acquiring things doesn’t make us empowered. Knowing popular or famous people doesn’t make us empowered. Empowerment comes from obedience to Your Word.
In John 10:10, Your Son, Jesus Christ, tells us that You sent him to make a more than abundant life available. This doesn’t mean that we have received power to do whatever we want with it. It doesn’t mean that we have license to indulge excessively in money, clothes, or whatever else we desire. It means that we are blessed with all spiritual blessings, that we have all we need to live powerfully through the Spirit of the Living God; and it means we have plenty leftover to share with others.
Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to see the truth of what it means to be truly led by the Spirit. We are here for a purpose and this purpose is to love and serve You with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. It is to be in an intimate relationship with You, and to be able to hear and follow Your directives as You lead and guide us through this life. We’re not here to get all we can get, that’s the mentality of the world. You tell us in Hebrews 11:6 that You are a Rewarder of our diligent effort. Blessings are a reward for being obedient to You and following the guidance of Your precious Holy Spirit through the Lord Jesus Christ. Please help us to see that You are building within us a sincere heart, so that we will not be selfish, but seek to share Your love and goodness with others.
Thank You for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Please let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
