Dear Heavenly Father,
In 2Chronicles 7:14(NKJV), You told Your people living in Old Testament times, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” As we read and study the Old Testament, we also see that Your people were often ‘stiff-necked’, which means they wouldn’t bow to You in humility. Instead, they worshipped idol gods and practiced all kinds of sin. 2Chronicles 7:14 demonstrates Your incredible grace and mercy. Even though the children of Israel turned their backs on You repeatedly, You were faithful to Your promises. They continued to make a mess of things, but You gave them chance after chance and told them to humble themselves so You could help them.
You said in Malachi 3:6 that You do not change. You are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Your Word never changes either. It is the truth, and we can place our every confidence in it. When it comes to worshipping and honoring You, the same dedication You required from Your people living long ago is also required of us. You desire that we humble ourselves, pray, and seek Your face. You want us to turn from our wicked ways, because this is the way to hear from You. The pay-off is humungous when we get in synch with Your purpose and focus on our relationship with You, but this requires a small sacrifice on our behalf. Sometimes we must close the door to the outside world of social media and other distractions, because these things are not helping us to spiritually grow in Christ.
Many people make the notion of minimizing social media and distractions more difficult than it should be. One of the reasons for this is because they think these things can fill the voids in their lives. They think that being ‘plugged-in’ will cancel out loneliness and emptiness, but it won’t. It’s just a band-aid, and the devil pushes it on us to keep us pacified so we won’t seek a more meaningful relationship with You. Dear Heavenly Father, please remove the blinders from our eyes so we can begin to see clearly. Please let us experience Your peace, and not look to the world to give us the fulfillment and blessings that only You can provide.
Father, please help us through the indwelling Holy Spirit to be reminded that You are our Rewarder. All good things come from You. As the psalmist said in Psalm 51:10, please create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew in us a right spirit so we no longer crave to be plugged-in to the wrong things. Help us to understand that the best thing we can do is stay continually plugged-in to You through the Lord Jesus Christ. Please help us to change the way we think so that our greatest desire is to please You. We don’t want to be conformed to this world and go back to the ways we used to have, please help us, Dear Father, to continue growing and going higher in Christ as we seek Your face.
Thank You for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Please let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
