Daughters of the King

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word tells us in Proverbs 12:4, “A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones.” Some of us, especially young women, underestimate the degree to which You hold Your daughters to this standard—the standard of Godliness that is worthy of a crown. We say things like, “That’s old fashioned. God doesn’t expect women to abide by those old standards.” Clearly those who feel this way do not know You as well as they should. You said in Malachi 3:6(KJV), “For I am the LORD, I change not;” You do not change; but we do. We run hot for the Kingdom one minute, and cold the next. We think modern amenities and technological advances means we have arrived, and that we can abandon what pleases You. We should never do this. Clinging to the truth of Your Word should be a constant in our lives forever.

Proverbs 31:10(KJV) asks, “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” This allows us to see that indeed a virtuous woman is a rare jewel, and she was as hard to find thousands of years ago as she is today. We have so very many blessings to be thankful for. You’ve blessed us with amazing intelligence and resources, and now we can help each other to be better in every way. Your expectation is that as we grow stronger, wiser, and more intellectually advanced, we will use these blessings to walk in the love of Christ greater than we ever have before. Your plan is that our increased mental and emotional capacity will prompt us to be even more committed to Your standard, so that we can achieve greater unity in Christ. But many of us haven’t looked at it this way. Instead, we have taken Your lavish grace for granted, and have used it to sin even more.

Meeting Your standard of Godliness is essential to pleasing You and having long-lasting and loving marriages. As Your beloved daughters that desire a wonderful future and a marital union that pleases you, the time for opening our eyes to Your requirements is now. We must be honest before You as we ask ourselves,

“Am I a Godly woman, or do I just tell people this because it sounds good?

Do I just talk about it, or am I trying with all that I am to BE about it?

Do I gossip and have meaningless conversations that do not honor God?

Do I respect myself for the queen that God has made me through Christ?

Do I honor my temple and not allow anyone to violate it?

Do I have frequent conversations with God, and trust that Jesus Christ is walking with me hand in hand?

Do I fully recognize that I’m a daughter of the King, who is the Creator of the entire universe?

Do I offer Him praise instead of continual complaints about my disappointments?

Am I committed to the standard He has set in His Word or am I trying to define my own?”

You tell us in Romans 11:1 that there’s no condemnation in Christ Jesus. You are not trying to make us feel bad by reminding us of Your standard. You are helping us rise up to the level of love and commitment that You have made us capable of. You want us to be ever mindful that we are accountable, for Christ tells us in Luke 12:48 that to whom much is given, much is required. You desire us to understand that the quality of our blessings will rise to the standard of Godliness we meet.

Please help us, Dear Father, to meet Your standard. Help us to grow in the Spirit so that we can be the Godly women You have called us to be. Please help us to walk in the authority You gave us even before we were conceived. Help us remember that we were predestined for all the good things You planned for us long ago. No human being can do for us what You do. No man can fill our cups, for the Lord Jesus Christ has already made them full. We are Your children. We belong to Your Kingdom, and You have given us the privilege and honor to be “daughters of the King.”

Thank You for opening our eyes to reality of Your standard and truth. Thank You for our powerful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for Your precious Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
