Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us the Gift of Holy Spirit. Thank You that He dwells on the inside of us, where he can help us most. Because of the Holy Spirit, we can walk in Your power and love in a greater way. In Acts 2, on the day of Pentecost, the disciples received an outward demonstration of their new and inner spiritual reality. They received the manifestation of speaking in tongues. This was such an awesome demonstration of Your power, and many of the onlookers thought that the disciples were drunk. They were not drunk with wine; they were in the bliss of Your wonder working power.
Loving You and witnessing the wondrous way that You bless us is the best thing in life, but some of us don’t realize this. We pay more attention to people that are engaging in worldly behavior and deeds than we do to praising the good things You have done and are doing. When it comes to praising and worshiping You, there are some people who look at us and call us weird and think we’re ‘uncool’ because we surrender ourselves to You totally. But what is weird and uncool is worshiping the creation more than the Creator. You created us with a desire to live fully; with joy, love, and peace in our hearts. You don’t want us looking to get drunk from alcohol or any other substance. You want us to seek You and to allow Your love and power to be the source of our joy. So, it is pointless and wasteful to seek to find in a substance or drug the kind of joy that can only be found in You through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Father God, You tell us in 1Corinthians 6:19(NLT), “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.” You are our Owner, and You own every part of us. Because of Your overwhelming mercy and grace, You have given us free-will agency to make our own choices and decisions. We can do with our bodies as we like, but Your hope is that we will employ them for the purpose You intended. You lovingly urge us in Romans 12:1 to present our bodies to You as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to You. This is our proper worship, to surrender totally and completely to Your Will. Please help us do this, Dear Father. Please open our eyes to see and know that worshiping, praising, and honoring You makes our lives a thing of beauty; for You and You alone will fill our cups with joy!
Thank You for working in us to will and do of Your good pleasure. Thank You for our powerful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for Your precious Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
