Deeper Gratitude and Adoration for God

Dear Heavenly Father,

Isaiah 26:3(NLT) says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” There have been many days that I have allowed situations to cause my thoughts to stray away from Your Word. You warn us not to look on the prosperity of the ungodly with envy, because they will have their day of judgement, but there were times that I found this challenging. I saw people doing things that I knew were wrong, and yet, they walked around with smiles on their faces, with no remorse for their wrongdoing. Others seemed to have plenty of money to buy and do whatever they wanted, and their actions didn’t glorify You at all. For a season, being a witness to these situations troubled me a lot and caused me to shrink in my faith.

I think a lot of us believers deal with these feelings. We have dreams and aspirations, and sometimes it seems we take one step forward and two steps backwards. We go through so much in life that it can seem as though we’re constantly running to catch-up with who we’re trying to be. This is so consuming for us that we don’t take the time to rest in Your peace—to spend time just thanking You for all You’ve done and how far You’ve brought us. Father, please forgive me for not bringing my mind and heart to a place of gratitude for Your amazing grace.

You instruct us in Romans 14:19(NLT), “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” If we make every effort to live a life of peace and to do all that You’ve commanded us to do, we will remain in a place of harmony with Your Word. We won’t have time to focus on anything other than loving and pleasing You. Please help us to get our minds focused and renewed. Help us to open our eyes to see when we’re opting for quick fixes and instant gratification instead of waiting patiently through Your process. Help us to see that You have a plan tailor-made for us. We don’t need to be looking to the left at what Sally Sue is doing or looking to the right at what Johnny Lee might be doing. We need to keep our eyes stayed on You through the Lord Jesus Christ, so that we respond to the call You’ve placed on our lives.

Forgive us please, Dear Heavenly Father, for not being as thankful and attentive to You as we should. We have no excuse for this, and we repent of this sin. You’ve provided so wonderfully for all of us, and we ask that You please help us to grow deeper in our expression of thankfulness, adoration, and devotion to You through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You for our Blessed Savior, thank You for the Holy Spirit, and please let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
