Dear Heavenly Father,
In Psalm 1:1, You tell us that a person is blessed when they do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around yapping it up with those who love to sin, or who join in with people that get their kicks from mocking and making fun of others. This verse isn’t only talking about the crew of folks we hang out with or our group of girlfriends. It includes social media activity as well. We see others being made fun of, being gossiped about, and being bullied on social media platforms continually. We must not delight in those things. You tell us in Psalm 1:2 that those who please You also delight in Your laws and statues, because they meditate in them day and night; they stay in Your Word, and there’s no greater place to be.
Psalm 1:3 says that the person that delights in Your righteousness is like a tree that is planted by the riverbank. This tree’s roots grow deep in the ground, where they are continually nourished by the river’s water. The tree never has to struggle for nourishment because it’s by the river—it’s connected to the Source of everything it needs. This is why You say that a righteous person is like a tree, because if we stay close and connected to You, You will take care of all our needs. Your provision never runs out.
You said of this tree that its’ leaves never wither, and it bears fruit every season. The world is panicking because many have followed the wicked. They have stood with sinners and mocked those that follow You. So, when a crisis arises, they don’t know what to do, but I thank You that I’m standing strong like a tree with roots firmly planted in You through Jesus Christ. Thank You for helping me to continue growing spiritually and for saving my soul, so that I could come into relationship with You through Christ.
In John 16:9(NLT), Jesus Christ said, “The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.” You want everyone to know Jesus Christ so they will be confident in Your love and goodness. Please, Dear Father, let those that You’ve called hear Your voice despite the world’s panicking chatter. Please increase the laborers and the harvest for Your Kingdom. You have warned us about the coming days and have given us specific instruction not to be moved by what we see. You’ve commanded us to stand firm in Your Word, to seek You first, and to pray diligently. But even with everything happening, most people are still not obeying You.
Father, help Your sons and daughters to rise up to be the people You have called us to be. Help us to unite in prayer, unity, and love so that we can usher in newness according to Your Divine Will and Plan. We can’t afford to copy the behavior of the world. We shouldn’t panic because everyone else is panicking, instead we must be strong in our faith in You and do our very best to help others. Thank You for reminding us all of our responsibility to the faith and for helping us to fulfill it.
Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
