Dear Heavenly Father,
In Psalm 46:10(NLT), You tell us “Be still, and know that I am God.” This is a very simple verse, but it is such an essential building block for our faith in You through the Lord Jesus Christ. You tell us in Hebrews 11:6 that without faith, we can’t please You. Our faith in Your love demonstrates that we believe Your Word, and we believe that You are all Your Word says You are. You have all power in Your hands, yet, in times of trouble, many people will look for help and rescue from the wrong source. They haven’t trusted You with their whole hearts.
In Psalm 46:1(NLT), You tell us, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” This is a challenging season, where there are many problems hitting the world at once. As soon as one issue subsides, another more pressing and troubling issue arises. We are being bombarded with distractions by the enemy, because he doesn’t want people to focus on their relationships with You. Instead, the enemy wants them to surrender to fear, because fear belongs to him. Fear imprisons the believers. It straps them down and keeps them from building up Your Kingdom.
Many believers have not seen this time as a period to spiritually fortify themselves, and this is a terrible mistake. While the world is grappling with the consequences of choosing the wrong god, satan—the god of this world, we should be glorifying You and clinging to You ever so tightly. We should be seeking Your guidance and wisdom, so that we are prepared for what comes next. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for waking up Your people so that we recognize now is the time to get our houses in order.
Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. Many of us are finding it very difficult to practice patience and stillness, but we must recognize how vital it is. Some of us see the practice of patience and stillness as punishment instead of being the grace that it is. The world teaches us to rush through decisions and choices, and to want things on the double. Because of this, some of us make the mistake of trying to bring this attitude and mentality into our relationship with You. We want You to give us results on the double; we think we can rush You to act. You are perfect in every way, and so is Your timing. You know how and when to bless us.
You tell us in 2Peter 3:9(NLT) “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” You are giving us the gift of time to be still and focus our attention on what matters, which is our relationship with You. As Your children, we are not being punished, we’re being presented with an opportunity to repent, pray for ourselves, and pray that others will see the glorious light of Christ and repent too.
You are a God of rewards, and You supply all good things. Our prayer must be that You will open the eyes of an unbelieving world and allow them to see the error of their wicked ways. Please help us all to clean up those things that are keeping us from fully embracing Your love. Thank You for revealing them to us, so that we can increase in spiritual strength and move to the next level of blessings and growth in Christ. Thank You for Your favor upon our lives. Thank You for our precious and powerful Lord and Savior. Thank You for the extraordinary gift of Holy Spirit and thank You for all Your many blessings. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
