Dear Heavenly Father,
In the earlier biblical church, confusion and chaos crept in because the people were being disorderly in their worship. They thought they could worship You any way that they wanted, without heeding to the standard of Your Word. Some were extremely emotional and lacked uniformity, and others were very sedate, dignified, and structured. Each of these churches thought their respective way was right. Vanity and arrogance were at the root of their worship, and You made Your displeasure known. Through the Apostle Paul, You said in 1Corinthians 14:33 that You are not the author of confusion, but of peace. Heavenly Father, we desperately need Your order and peace in our world right now.
In Malachi 3:6(NLT), You said, “I the LORD do not change.” Somehow, some of us have mistakenly gotten it into our heads that Your Will is altered because we can’t get it together. You are GOD! You don’t make mistakes. Everything You do is perfect, and You never have to do a do-over or a takeback. We make mistakes, but You do not. You said in Romans 8:28(NLT), “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” YOU are the ONE who causes ALL things to work together for good. Even on our best day, we couldn’t do this. If the condition of the world today teaches us nothing else, it teaches us the mess we make when we don’t put You first and seek Your Will.
You do not change. You are intelligent beyond intelligence, magnificent beyond magnificence, powerful beyond power. Within less time than a blink of an eye, our entire memories could be wiped out, and we wouldn’t suspect a thing. While we’re weeping, wailing, and complaining down here, Your Will is going forward. So, instead of laboring in chaos and adding to the confusion of the world, You command us in Hebrews 4:11(NIV), “Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”
We must be ever so careful not to make the mistakes that the children of Israel did. They forgot who You are. Moses told them in Deuteronomy 8:14(NLT), “Do not become proud at that time and forget the LORD your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.” We’ve gone through countless obstacles, troubles, and tribulations. Nations have been destroyed and rebuilt, but You are still on the throne, and there is nothing that we break that You cannot repair. You are forever and always in control. You change not. We are the ones that must change and line up our minds and hearts with Your Word and Will. Please help us to get our acts together and to realign our attention so that we continually and always focus on You and Your Kingdom.
Thank You for blessing us so bountifully. Thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for giving us the Gift of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
