Dear Heavenly Father,
You are holy, holy, holy! Only You are deserving of praise, worship, honor and glory. It is such an awesome blessing to know that You have handpicked each of us as Your very own. And You’ve done this because of Your great love for us all. There is none like You, Heavenly Father, and it is the greatest privilege of all eternity to call You, Father. Please forgive us for all the things that we’ve said, thought, felt, and done that were contrary to Your Word and Will. Please help us to be our best for You, and to walk in the purpose for which You’ve called us.
Heavenly Father, so many of us single women that love You and want to please You also have a great desire to meet the person we are going to marry. We’re ready to push the ‘start’ button on the relationship that will ultimately lead to a long and lasting marriage. Please help us, Dear Father, to put our desire in perspective. We want You to be pleased with our whole lives, and we don’t want to place our desire for marriage over our desire to please You. It’s a balance that we must learn, because the loneliness can be so very uncomfortable, and we just don’t want to be single any longer.
We also shouldn’t think that our happiness is wrapped up in this one person or that our lives won’t begin unless we meet someone. Only You have the answers to our life’s puzzle, but many single believers make the mistake of thinking their future husband does. They are waiting on the man to make their lives more than what they are, when only You can make our lives complete through Jesus Christ. We want to experience the exuberance of being coupled up, Dear Father, and we are so ready to give ourselves to this person, but You want us to realize that we must give ourselves to You first.
Giving ourselves to You means that we obey Your commandments and follow the example of Jesus Christ. Your Son taught us in Matthew 6:33(NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Blessings chase us down when we focus our attention on what pleases You. Studying Your Word and praying often demonstrates that You are our number one priority. It shows that we recognize who You are, and that You deserve our very best.
You tell us in Psalms 37:4(NLT) “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” Thank You for the revelation of this truth. When we line up our will with Your Will, Your desires then become our desires. We should never chase after things You never told us we could have. We must want what You want for us, because You will give us blessings that please You and delight us as well.
Thank You, Father, because You will not allow our blessings to slip through the cracks when we hold Your Word deeply in our hearts and cling to You continually. You have great plans for our lives, and we can have total confidence that the desires of our hearts will come to past if we follow Your lead and be obedient to Your Word. Thank You for opening our eyes to this truth. And thank You for blessing and keeping us all the days of our lives. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen. ■
