1 Corinthians 11:8(NLT)
“For the first man didn’t come from woman, but the first woman came from man. 9; And man was not made for woman, but woman was made for man.”
“God, did I hear you say “Yes” to this relationship – Is he the one, Father?”
If we’re being honest, many single believers are frustrated with waiting on the man that God has for them. They continually ask God, “Do You really have a man for me? If You do, Father, what’s taking so long for him to come into my life?” I’ve heard this sentiment numerous times from God’s lovely single daughters, and they are continually in my prayers. The stretch of time they have endured, from weeks to months to years, is baffling to them. They don’t understand the purpose of the wait, and are ready to push the start button on a meaningful relationship that will lead to marriage. The subject of waiting on Mr. Right seems to be never-ending because so many Christian women are single and want very much to be in a committed relationship.
The simple truth is that it doesn’t matter what the desire is, whether its marriage, financial stability, or better relationships, God’s requirements do not change. He isn’t withholding the blessing of a spouse from any individual. Heavenly Father designed the system to ensure that His blessings continually flow from heaven’s doors. He also made you and me responsible for doing what is necessary to access the blessings we desire. James 2:26(NLT) makes it very plain. It states, “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” Faith is the building block of our relationship with God, and we cannot please Him without it. We can tell everyone we know all day long that we have faith in God, but the confession of our faith must be backed up with action. This is what activates the manifestation of blessings.
Our actions must be those of good works that glorify God. We can’t do anything we want to back our faith and think it meets the Father’s standards; God tells us exactly what to do in His Word. Jesus Christ instructs us in Matthew 5:15-16(NLT), “15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” The motivation behind good works that glorify God will always be to point a light in His direction. Good deeds are not based on a selfish agenda, but on God’s agenda.
Somehow, we’ve gotten it in our heads that we don’t have to satisfy what Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:15-16, yet we think we can still reap the rewards. The law of faith doesn’t work that way. We must serve the Lord through the works that we do, and the motivation for those works shouldn’t be to get more of His goodies. We must serve God because we understand that He deserves our all.
Stagnation in the manifestation of our blessings is a mirror that reflects where we are in the process. It shows us an honest depiction of our labor for the Kingdom. This is a big piece of truth to digest, but once consumed we are never the same. Most will not digest it because they feel they’re doing enough, but none of us, no matter how long we’ve been on this Christian journey, can get around the reality of the law of faith. God’s desire is that we follow the example of Christ and produce for His Kingdom, because this is the way to position ourselves in the overflow of His blessings.
Often our frustration is not with the wait, it is with the reality that our entire lives must be about the business of good works for God’s Kingdom, but we are refusing to believe this. So, we keep praying, yet not increasing in faith. God knows exactly what we are capable of, and He is rooting for us to keep pushing and pressing to the finish line, where the prize we desire is waiting on us. God’s laws are perfect, and they will work for us when we work them. It’s time to wake up. Instead of praying continually to meet the man you will marry, switch gears and begin to pray to back your faith with works that please God. Pray that He will open your eyes to the opportunities for good works that He has placed in your life and get busy with them. This is key to evaporating the wait, and all you have to do is use it.■
