I should have been enjoying my summer trip home to North Carolina but instead, I was feeling sorry for myself. Sitting on the flight alone again with not even a prospect of a boyfriend or husband to introduce to my family. I couldn’t ever remember a time when I felt lonelier. No doubt there are many unmarried individuals that can relate to feeling this way. Singleness continues to be a critical issue for those who want to be married. The good news is that it’s very possible these individuals may be only a short distance away from meeting the right person. If this is the case, all the doubt they’ve had about what God is going to do for them has to be confronted, and then totally dismantled for good.
If asked, most individuals who believe in Heavenly Father have something that they’ve been specifically praying about. It’s a blessing they would really like to see come to pass in their lives. Whether it is a health challenge, mending a relationship, a financial blessing, or meeting their future spouses, just about everyone is waiting for Heavenly Father to bless them with the special desire of their hearts. The reality is that God isn’t withholding their blessing. He is not keeping it from them. This is the truth that must be firmly etched in our believing. It is impossible for a person to rise above their circumstances if they are not willing to change what they believe. To go higher in faith, we all must change the way we think. We must begin to behave and think in alignment with the faith of Jesus Christ. He was convinced of God’s goodness, and we must be too. If we are not clinging to the reality of God’s goodness, then our faith is misplaced or hindered.
Psalm 84:11 declares that God is our sun and our shield. He’s our everything! He gives us grace and causes us to glory in Christ. This verse clearly tells us that God doesn’t withhold His blessings from those who have a heart to do what is right. It’s our comprehension and trust in who God is that repositions our minds and hearts towards His perfection and goodness. If we are not convinced of God’s grace and glory, doubt will creep in every time.
In Psalm 48:9(NLT), the psalmist said, “O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.” How much meditating on the goodness of God are you doing in your personal quality time with Him? In Psalm 145:5 (NLT), he said, “I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.” The reason the psalmist meditated on God’s majestic, glorious splendor, and wonderful miracles is because he understood that this is who God is. He is worthy of our meditation, deep contemplation, praise, honor, and adoration.
Today, as we live and breathe, our praise of God isn’t complete because there is still sin in our bodies. But on that glorious day when our Lord and Savior returns, we will receive a resurrected body, and we’ll be changed forever. Then our praise will be perfect, but now, we are still in training. We are learning to give God our all. So, we must not hold back anything when it comes to loving Him and honoring His goodness. We shouldn’t let doubt steal our concentration, and we shouldn’t allow unbelief or wrong believing to continue to swindle us out of our blessing. We are becoming the image of Christ that God destined us to be. So, the realization of where we are, what God is due, and what He requires of us must be deeply embedded in our hearts. If it’s not, we’re not going to have Jesus Christ in his rightful place of authority and power in our future marriages.
God also wants us to realize that His love must be very active in our hearts, because a heart filled with God’s love causes the most beautiful blessings to find their way to us. Many of us are incredibly close to receiving what we’ve waited so long for, and that’s why it’s critical to take the time and get closer to God than we ever have before. He wants us blessed, but His priority is that we are actively seeking Him and doing all we can to have a closer relationship with Him. This season is so important because the enemy is busy and pulling out all the stops to distract us, so that he can cause us to miss what God is doing. Again, we’re getting close to the blessing, and the Father is pulling us closer to Him as well. If we’ll cling to God and His Word, He’ll position us in the right place at the right time to witness our blessings manifest. ■
