Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being so good to us. You are awesome and amazing, and being Your sons and daughters is a privilege too wonderful for words. You are holy and good all the time, and You have called us to be Your holy and set-apart people. You tell us in Ephesians 5:1 to be imitators of You because we are Your dear children. This means that we must demonstrate thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors that follow Your nature. This is the very best that any of us could ever hope to achieve, Father, and it will help us to be the men and women that You have called us to be.
We live in perilous times, and You didn’t keep it a secret that this would be the condition of the world. Your Son, Jesus Christ, said in John 16:20(NIV), “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Many people expect the world to get better, but we know from Your Word the world is a wicked place and things are becoming even more confused and chaotic. We thank You, Heavenly Father, because even though the world is perilous, You do not change and neither does Your Word and promises. We can always depend on Your enduring goodness, grace, and mercy.
Many people are complaining because they want things to go back to the way they were, but time is winding up. In Christ, we cannot go backwards, we can only go forward and upward. We can only go higher in You through the Lord Jesus Christ. As Your set-apart people, we shouldn’t join in with society’s complaining and bickering. Instead, we must be eternally grateful that You have placed a hedge of protection around Your people. If we are obedient to follow Your Word, You tell us in 2Thessalonians 3:3(NIV), “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”
Father, please open our eyes to see how good we have it, as believers and followers of our Lord Jesus Christ! Too many of us sit back and complain about the things we don’t have, and we allow the negativity of the world to consume our attention. Instead, we must let our souls be overtaken with gratitude and thankfulness for Your grace and mercy. We must see how You’ve kept us and will continue to keep and protect us because You love us so much.
Your Word tells us in Hebrews 12:28(NLT) “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.” Forgive us, Heavenly Father, for our arrogance, and lack of gratitude, reverence, and awe for all that You are. We will do better. We will be sure to let a song of Your majesty and grace be on our lips when we awaken each morning. We will be ever so careful to be grateful for our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Remind us through Your precious Spirit, Dear Father, to rejoice and delight in You, for You are merciful toward us, and Your grace is truly amazing. In the powerful name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
