Dear Heavenly Father,
You are awesome and amazing, and we are so thankful for the work that You have completed for us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Because of what he accomplished on the cross, You have clothed us in Your righteousness. We can stand before You with no sense of guilt, sin, or condemnation, and this is what You wanted all along. You wanted us to be close to You, and to lean on You, fully trusting that You will take care of all our needs. Everything in creation belongs to You, and You are delighted to bless Your people with Your wonderful wealth and riches, because You, and You alone, are good.
Father God, You tell us in John 10:10(NLT), “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” We see this very plainly today; the enemy has placed blinders over the eyes of many people. They are bamboozled into thinking that the curses the enemy doles out are from You. Even now, with everything that is going on, people have refused to see that rampant disobedience has given the devil just the opening he wanted. You do not want this. You want people to be obedient so that they have access to Your blessings and abundance. You want everyone to have a rich and satisfying life and accepting the love of Jesus Christ in their hearts is the way to receive this kind of life.
Through the Apostle Paul, You tell us in 2Corinthians 4:4(NLT), “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” People’s minds become messed up with all kinds of dysfunction and darkness because they won’t do as You have commanded them in Philippians 4:7, which is to live in Christ Jesus so that Your peace can guard our hearts and minds. Instead, they look to the world to fill their cups, and this is a dangerous course of action.
Your Son taught us in John 16:33 that in the world we will have trouble, but despite our conditions and circumstances, we must take heart, because our Master Jesus has overcome the world. This means that if we will live our lives by following the example of Christ, our victory is guaranteed. Please help us to open our eyes to this, Heavenly Father. We no longer have time to play around with Your call. It’s time for us to repent and seek Your forgiveness for all the things we’ve done wrong. We need to repent for causing others to sin, and for prioritizing people, situations, relationships, and things over our relationship with You. Thank You for showing us how to be our best for You, and for helping us through Your precious Son to demonstrate our love for You. We want You to be pleased with our whole lives, and we thank You for being so good to us and for being good all the time. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. ■
