The Lord Gives the Right Answer

Proverbs 16:1-3(NLT)
“1 We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. 2 People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. 3 Commit our actions to the Lord, and our plans will succeed.”

Breaking up with someone that you care a lot about is very hard to do. Whether you’ve been together six-months or six years, letting go doesn’t come natural for most of us. We love the familiar, and we’re not too fond of change. More often than not, this translates over into our relationships. Sometimes, we know in our hearts that the person we’re with isn’t right for us, but we stay in it. We put up with the other person’s refusal to grow and mature, even though it causes us to be stuck ourselves. The truth is that moving on, letting go and letting God, can be a process, and many of us have to learn it.

Some of us have a phobia about being alone. It comes from having gone through those bouts of loneliness more times than we’d like. The pain can be gut-wrenching, and it can cause us to doubt whether there’s someone out there for us. When we finally do meet a man that seems to be as interested in us as we are in him, we’re euphoric that loneliness seems to be a thing of the past. The thought of going back to it makes us lock ourselves down when the situation isn’t at all what God has ordained for our lives.

So, we have to get rid of the fear, because it’s a terrible way to begin a relationship. Hebrews 4:10(NLT) says, “For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world.” Entering into God’s rest means that we have peace and confidence about His goodness and His willingness to bless our lives. We won’t worry that we won’t meet the person that Heavenly Father has ordained for our lives, and we won’t cling to relationships that are not helping us to be all that He wants us to be.

Isaiah 26:3(NLT) says, “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You.  Because he trusts in You.” Peace in our lives and in our relationships comes from trusting God. He always has the right answer for any situation or circumstance, and His truth brings the peace of mind that we desperately need.

Philippians 4:13(NLT) affirms, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Sometimes, we forget this. We forget that we are God’s masterpieces created to do the good things He planned for us long ago. We forget that with Christ, we are always enough, and that we should never depend on another individual to give us something they simply aren’t equipped to give. Instead, we must pray to increase in faith and spiritual strength so that we’re prepared for the relationship we’ve prayed to God to receive.

Now is the time to have more frequent conversations with God. You must remind yourself how much He loves you and how complete you already are. Learn the lessons of love that God wants to teach you and be patient as He strengthens your heart. Never be afraid to release a relationship that is past its expiration date. Be kind, keep the peace, and be ready to embrace the love of God and the example of Christ in a greater way. This is the right answer from heaven, and it will place our feet firmly on the path of all that God has for our lives. ■
