Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:30(NLT), “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.” This verse communicates the degree to which our Heavenly Father knows everything there is to know about us. He has all knowledge about all things, and all people; you’re included in that number. There’s no detail about your life that God isn’t aware of. He knows your desires. He hears your prayers, and above all, He never forgets about you or any other child that belongs to Him. The psalmist said in Psalm 139:13-16(NLT), “13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous–how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
God planned for our births. He knew the exact time and place of them. He is a God of purpose, and He said in Ephesians 1:4-7 that even before He laid the foundation of the world, He loved us and chose us to be a part of His family in Christ. He chose us to be His very own and this brings Him great pleasure. He rescued us from darkness and purchased our freedom from it with the blood of His only begotten Son. He forgave our sins and showered us with His kindness. He has done all this because of His amazing grace.
Surely, we must recognize now that we are His children, we have responsibilities to Him, and one of them is to be obedient to His Word and Will. Romans 8:28(NLT) declares, “And we know that God causes everything to work together[fn] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Making plans is what we do. We have our own agendas, and we want to do things our way, but no matter our plans, God’s Will is going to prevail (Proverbs 19:21). He has an excellent plan to give us a good life, a future, and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Our distinct privilege and honor are to line up our plans with God’s plan, because only He can cause all things to work together for those who love Him and are called by Him to walk in His purpose.
Psalm 24:1-5(NLT) tells us, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. 3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. 5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.” This passage singles out God’s sovereignty as well as our obligation to acknowledge it in every way and to do what God says.
Our journey in life will come with many good days, but there will also be some bad days. We will experience things like heartache and betrayal, and we might feel like we don’t have the strength to remain committed to this Christian journey, but God tells us in Galatians 6:9(NLT) not to “get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Our Heavenly Father has told us not to give up but to keep on doing good. If we do, we’re going to reap the harvest we’ve been praying to receive so long.
James 2:14(NLT) says, “What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?” God has called us to live by faith and purpose, and to never stop doing what is good. We are to remain rooted and grounded in the love of Jesus Christ. Sure, there are times in life where the burden seems very heavy. We’ve been praying for marriage and to cross paths with our future spouses, and things don’t seem to be moving. Consider that Heavenly Father has called you to do some moving and shaking. Fan the flame of the gift of God as it says in 2Timothy 1:6. As you pray for His direction and guidance, ask the Father to make His purpose plain to you. Then be committed in your heart and mind to follow and carryout everything that He says.■
