Isaiah 45:3 (NLT)
“And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.”
Isaiah 45:3 is one of my favorite verses because it informs us that there are treasures right here on earth that our eyes haven’t yet seen. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve heard women say that there are no good men anymore. They point to their grandfathers and great grandfathers as the standard for manhood and can’t imagine that the men of our time can match it. Regarding the church that Jesus Christ is coming back to rapture, Ephesians 5:25-27(NLT) tells us, “He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish.” We’re not quite there yet, but we’re on our way. This means we are becoming more like Christ as time progresses. So, Godly men are becoming stronger and more purified by God’s Word. They are indeed a treasure. The question is whether we can see them.
Our Heavenly Father is still revealing secret riches and hidden treasures all the time. So often, they are right in front of us, but we can’t see them because our hearts and minds are not as focused on God as they should be. We cannot expect that God will supernaturally open our eyes to His treasure when our hearts are closed to His Will and purpose.
Jesus Christ said in Matthew 13:44-46 (NLT), “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!” When we view God and His Kingdom as the rich and extraordinary treasures that they are, we will forsake all else to magnify Him and His Kingdom, and we will do anything to please Him. God looks for this level of dedication and devotion to Him in our lives.
He’s not withholding treasures on earth from us. He has designed the earth in such a way that its treasures are revealed when our loyalty to Him is greater than our desire for anything else on this planet. God’s secret riches are hidden from those that haven’t yet developed a love for His light. Psalm 119:105(NLT) says, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” We must seek God’s Word with all our hearts, because it’s the map! As we seek to know more about our purpose and what we should be doing to meet God’s requirements, our spiritual eyesight will become stronger. We will see things we never saw before and the path to more of God’s treasures will be revealed.
Proverbs 2:1-5(NLT) says, “My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.” Your love for the Word of God indicates your love for Him. If you’re not doing all that you can to actively read and study God’s Word—if it’s not a habit pattern in your life, you’re missing an opportunity to discover that it’s the greatest treasure of all. We need to see this first, because God’s Word lights the path to all His other treasures, including the Godly man that will one day be your spouse. ■
