Hebrews 1:6-7 (NLT)
“6 And when he brought his supreme Son into the world, God said, “Let all of God’s angels worship him.” 7 Regarding the angels, he says, “He sends his angels like the winds, his servants like flames of fire.”
Have you ever experienced being in a situation where you desperately needed help and things looked impossible? Then, before you knew it, the situation was handled, and things popped in line so smoothly that it couldn’t have been anyone else but God. He worked it out in a way that never would have crossed our minds. He continually proves that in our times of trouble, He doesn’t ever miss a beat. God is always on time and witnessing how He shows up for us in our weakest hour should inspire our hearts and increase our faith in Him tremendously.
When we first learn news that rocks our worlds, or when the fabric of our lives quickly unravels, we become fearful. The need to be comforted is so great, and we recognize that only the comfort that the Lord sends will pull us through. An angel with us during these times, standing guard, reminding us who we are and whose we are, and that God never leaves us; this is what we envision. Angels are subject to the Lordship of Christ, and the Bible teaches us that God sends them for His purposes in the earth. He sends them swiftly like the wind, and they are all employed by our Heavenly Father to minister in the ways He has sanctioned.
Hebrews 13:2 (NLT) tells us, “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” We never know when God has sent an angel to help and minister to our lives in a certain way. They could be helping us in the workplace, in our homes, while we’re driving on the highway, and they can rescue us when peril is in our midst. Our Heavenly Father is often referred to in the Bible as the “God of Heaven’s Armies”, because He has an innumerable army of angels at His disposal. We must be confident, that when it comes to aiding, comforting, and rescuing us from all hurt, harm, and danger, God’s resources are beyond our comprehension.
Our Heavenly Father is the One True Living God. He has no equal, and His majesty is astounding beyond anything that we can imagine. Revelation 22:13 tells us that He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. The life within our God is inexhaustible and everything that exists was created by Him for Him. The whole universe revolves around our Creator, and He alone holds everything together. Our existence from day to day, the very breath in our lungs, is sustained by our Heavenly Father. He is so extraordinarily and overwhelmingly powerful that if He so desired, everything that exists this very moment could be wiped out in less time than the blink of an eye. But God will not do this, and the reason that He won’t is revealed in 1John 4:16(NLT). This verse says, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”
God is love, and He loves us so much that through Jesus Christ, He has brought us into His family. We live in Him! Acts 17:28 tells us, “For in him we live and move and exist.” This is where our confidence must be. God is not far from us. He’s in us! He knows all about our troubles and tribulation, and our allegiance to Him must be firm. This is what He desires. Hebrews 1:14(NLT) tells us, “Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.” The angels are servants of God. They worship and adore Him, and as His children, we must be ever so careful to do the same, for He is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise. Everything in our lives must be prioritized around being obedient to God, and we must have faith that no matter what we’re going through, He will send help at just the right time. ■
