Being single can be challenging, especially when you’re shouldering responsibilities like raising children, working, and managing all the household expenses on your own. The weight of these responsibilities can sometimes feel overwhelming, opening the door for despair, doubt, and loneliness to creep in. Many single Christian women find themselves wondering how much longer they can wait on the Lord for relief and change.
James 1:12 (NLT) comes to our rescue with a remedy that encompasses a comforting promise and a call to persevere: “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” This scripture in James provides assurance that our commitment to endure trials and troubles with patience is not in vain. God sees our struggles, and He promises a reward for those who patiently endure. Remaining anchored in Him and His promises ensures that loneliness and sadness will not run the show in our lives.
There is a certain requirement that God expects from us to receive the crown of life: the ability to endure whatever temptation or test comes our way. This is no small feat. Enduring trials with patience demands a specific set of skills and spiritual fortitude that prepares us for life’s tribulations. The real question is, do you have this resilience within you? The answer to this question is: Yes, you do!
To embrace this resilience, as Christians, we can’t allow ourselves to be comfortable in loneliness and despair. God has too much for us to get done in this life. We must recognize that through Jesus Christ, God has fully and completely equipped us. 2 Peter 1:3 (NLT) tells us, “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” God doesn’t miss a beat, and we can depend on this with all that we are. The strength to face and overcome challenges is embedded within us through our relationship with Christ. Everything we need to stand strong in faith was given to us when we accepted him as our Lord and Savior.
God equips us with everything we need to overcome trials. James 1:12 (NLT) assures us, “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” This promise underscores that enduring with faith is not only a test of character but also a path to divine reward. The strength to face and overcome challenges is embedded within us through our relationship with Christ. With His guidance and the support of the Holy Spirit, we can develop the perseverance needed to navigate life’s difficulties. So, as you face various tests and temptations, remember that you are already equipped with the resilience to rise above them, empowered by God’s promises and grace.
There’s a certain requirement that God expects from us in order to receive the crown of life, and that is to be able to endure whatever temptation or test that comes your way. This is no small feat either, you will need a skill set that will prepare you for life’s tribulations, but the truth is, do you have it within you? If you were to ask a single, Christian woman that’s been waiting for a good man for a long time, how much more patience can she endure – her response may be a bit different than someone who’s been single for only a short while.
That’s why, as a single Christian woman, you need to see this scripture as more than just a boost of encouragement. It’s a reminder that change is a constant in life; it’s a part of God’s design. One of its purposes is to keep us from becoming too comfortable with clinging to things we should have released long ago. Nothing ever stays the same, and our Heavenly Father expects us to adapt and grow through our commitment to the example of Christ. Life’s seasons are always shifting, so it’s up to us to stay close to God and let His Holy Spirit guide us. We need to keep our faith strong so we can stay flexible and ready for how and when the Spirit leads us to move.
Psalm 84:11(NLT) tells us “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” This verse reassures us that God blesses those who live righteously and that He won’t hold back any good thing from us. His love for us is immense. It’s unconditional and limitless; we’ll never reach the end of it. He desires for us to experience abundant blessings. It’s not that God is making us wait; rather, He’s waiting for us to grow in faith and become as flexible to His Will as we need to be. When we fully embrace His goodness and get on board with His purpose in our hearts and minds, we open ourselves up to receive the fullness of His blessings. So, stay steadfast in your faith and flexible towards His Will, trusting that God is leading you towards His best.■
