Preparation Comes Before the Blessing

Genesis 2:23(NLT) says, “At last!” the man exclaimed.”  This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called woman, because she was taken from man.” In the very beginning, our Heavenly Father recognized a need for Adam and took from him what was necessary to form a woman, bringing her to him for approval. Of course, God knew Adam would be well pleased—how could he not be? Everything that comes from God is very good. One key aspect we cannot overlook is Adam’s response: “At last!”

In our modern vernacular, we can imagine Adam thinking, “Finally, I have met an awesome partner—someone who loves the Lord, is compatible, and will help me fulfill my purpose.” This sentiment resonates with many good men who have a heart for God and are seeking a partner. Women are not alone in their desire to partner with a man of God; this longing for mutual support and shared purpose goes both ways.

This is what God does when we turn to Him for help—He faithfully meets our needs. You may not have considered this, but your identity as a single person must transform before you encounter the right man. Embracing qualities that align with God’s standards is essential for your mental and spiritual readiness. Remember, marriage is merely the action that follows a heartfelt decision; true preparation is what paves the way for the blessing.

We don’t know how long Adam walked with God before Eve was presented to him, but we do know that God recognized Adam’s need for Eve long before Adam was even aware of it. God knew all along that Eve would exist, and in His perfect timing, He met Adam’s need. Our Heavenly Father is neither forgetful nor neglectful; He knows exactly how to care for us. As Psalm 37:4 (NLT) assures us, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” We can depend on this promise with all our hearts, trusting that God will provide for us in ways that exceed our expectations and understanding. His plans are always good, and He is faithful to meet our needs when the time is right.

The challenge we often face is impatience with God’s timing. However, His Word provides us with a clear roadmap to guide us toward our desires. By following this roadmap, we can align our hearts and actions with God’s Will, leading us closer to the blessings He has in store for us.

Pray in Faith
First, we must pray in faith. Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) reminds us, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.” Prayer is our lifeline to God, allowing us to communicate our hopes, fears, and needs. When we approach Him with a heart full of faith, we open ourselves to His guidance and peace, which helps us navigate our desires with clarity.

Keep a Thankful Heart
Second, we should keep a thankful heart. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) encourages us: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to the blessings we already have, and to the blessings we will obtain in the future. By cultivating a spirit of thankfulness, we invite joy into our lives, helping us to remain hopeful and grounded in God’s promises, even when we don’t yet see the fulfillment of our desires.

Be Patient with God’s Timing.
Finally, we must be patient with God’s timing. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT) states, “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” This verse beautifully reveals that everything unfolds according to God’s perfect plan, even when we can’t fully understand it. Patience is often the hardest part of the journey, especially when we yearn for specific outcomes. In our moments of longing, it can be easy to feel discouraged or restless. However, trusting in God’s timing allows us to embrace the process of growth and preparation. Each waiting period is an opportunity for us to deepen our faith, develop our character, and become more aligned with His Will. Remember, what may seem like a delay is often a time for God to work behind the scenes, crafting a beautiful masterpiece that is worth the wait.

As we align with God’s Word in this way, we may still encounter hiccups along the way. For instance, we might meet someone we think is “the one,” only to realize he was merely a distraction. However, we can’t allow ourselves to sink into disappointment; instead, we should become even more motivated to seek God and trust in His plan for us. It’s crucial to remember that each step, whether joyful or challenging, shapes us for the future He has in store. By praying in faith, maintaining a thankful heart, and being patient with His timing, our faith increases, we become spiritually prepared, and we position ourselves to receive the abundant blessings God has waiting for us. ■
