For many, the start of a new year brings a sense of anticipation for change, especially for God’s single children. Many prophets are declaring that this is the year to receive what has been promised to us, and there’s nothing more inspiring than having our faith ignited in the right direction.
Jesus teaches in Mark 11:23 (NLT), “I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” This verse challenges us to ask ourselves what it means to truly believe something will happen. Anyone who has studied the Bible to any degree knows that through our faith in God, we can call into existence things that are not yet visible. In other words, if our desires are in alignment with God’s truth, and we confess them with the unwavering conviction of our hearts, they will come to pass.
Anyone can speak words, but power comes from speaking the words that our Heavenly Father has spoken. His Word is true, and when we come in alignment with His truth, power is ignited. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 (NLT), “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.” This powerful reminder shows us that God’s Word is unshakable and eternal. While our personal goals and expectations might shift as we enter a new year, God’s plans for our lives remain constant. His Word is our firm foundation, and every promise He makes is sure to come to pass.
When we have a clear and focused intention to receive what God has promised, everything about us begins to align with that intention. Our thoughts, words, and actions all come into agreement with what we believe God will do. The Word of God transforms us in this way. It helps us adopt a mindset that refuses to let negativity steal our focus. Instead, we confess only the positives of God’s Word. This is what builds our enthusiasm and dedication to move forward with conviction.
You may not know exactly what steps to take to achieve your dreams or desires right now, but you can rest assure that God does. He has a purpose and a plan for your life, and through His Spirit, He will guide you. Our intention to please God propels us towards abundance. When we desire to love and share through Christ, and becoming wiser, stronger, and better by following his example, we demonstrate that our primary objective is to expand God’s Kingdom and fulfill our purpose. This pleases Him. When our heads and hearts are in this place, we can hear and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance more clearly.
Seeking God must be our priority. When it is, our actions, thoughts, and confessions are not about what He can do for us, but what we can do for Him. In Ecclesiastes 11:6 (NLT), we’re given simple but profound advice: “Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.” The seeds that we must plant are those of praying often, studying God’s Word daily, and being of service to His people as often as we are led. Even when we’re uncertain of the outcome, if we act with intention and consistency to follow God’s Will, we can be confident we’re exactly where we need to be. He will inspire us with strategies and creativity that not only prepare but position us for the opportunities we seek.
When we set our intentions on the things of God, it sparks inspiration, and Godly inspiration leads us down a very prosperous path. Aligning our thoughts, confessions, and actions with God’s Will and Word is what it means to have a focused plan. Our Heavenly Father will surely partner with us when this is the case. He will guide our steps and fill us with the wisdom and inspiration we need to fulfill His plans for our lives. ■
