Revelations 3:7-8 (NLT)
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open: ‘I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.’”
Whether you’re single and praying earnestly to God for your husband or you’ve reached a place where doubts have crept in, and you’ve stopped believing in God’s promises, there’s one thing you need to remember from His Word: God is the only One who can open a door, and He’s the only One who can close it. We might be asking ourselves whether this is a literal door or a spiritual one. This “door” is any opportunity, promise, or path that God opens for us in His perfect timing. If you’re in a place of doubt and disappointment, you owe it to yourself to keep your heart open to the Lord’s love and power, understanding that your obedience and commitment to Christ will be rewarded.
Let’s face it, the spiritual condition of many born-again believers today seems a bit shaky. They are distracted and worried about all the uncertainty and chaos around us. It does feel like everything is topsy turvy, but our God is solid and sturdy. Psalm 18:2 (NLT) says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” Although everything around us feels uncertain, our Heavenly Father is a sure thing. His faithfulness is unwavering, and we can count on Him in every situation.
We got to know that now is not a time to let our doubts rule our emotions. We need to cling to God with all that we are, and not allow the desires of our hearts to fade. Our Heavenly Father wants us to remain consistent and unwavering in our faith. As James 1:6 (NLT) says, “But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” God is looking for hearts that trust Him fully, even when life gets difficult, and that’s the kind of faith that moves His heart.
Think about something: the person that you’ll spend the rest of your life with will expect your unwavering devotion. They’ll want to know that, no matter what, you have their back—that your love is constant and dependable. Deep down, this is the kind of faithfulness you desire as well. But understand this: God deserves no less from you. In fact, He deserves infinitely more. He’s saved you from eternal death, given you the gift of His Holy Spirit, and blessed you with all spiritual blessings because of your union with Christ. Shouldn’t He be able to count on your faithfulness? No matter the loneliness or disappointment, Let God be able to say of you, ‘They proved their love for Me—they never gave up.’
Your faithfulness isn’t just about staying committed to Heavenly Father when life is easy; it’s about holding tight to His promises when doubt tries to shake you, when prayers seem unanswered, and when the wait feels unbearable. Your journey to marriage isn’t just about finding the right one—it’s about becoming the person who trusts God no matter what. If you can stay solid in your love for Him now—through the uncertainty, through the waiting—then you’re building the kind of faith that can carry you through any season. Stay consistent. Stay unwavering. Let your love for God be the one thing that never wavers—because He has never wavered in His love for you. ■
