Dear Heavenly Father,
You tell us in Ecclesiastes 3:1(NKJV), “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” I began to think about seasons, and how every new season will usher in change. You have woven this into Your creation, and therefore, we must learn from it. Most of us are creatures of habit. We like things a certain way, and we want them to remain the same day after day, year after year. You have made it very clear that this isn’t how You designed life to work. In life there are seasons, and with the introduction of a new season, we should understand that newness is being birthed.
I know many people that are praying for positive change in their lives. They complain about being so tired of things as they are. They want to know when it’s going to be their time to experience prosperity and happiness, or to get married. They want to go higher because they know You have promised us an abundant life through the Lord Jesus Christ. I understand their eagerness, and I’ve had these same questions and concerns when it seemed that my blessings were delayed. But I understand so much more now, because You’ve taught me about seasons.
I now understand that when You’re about to do something new in our lives, the old things that we’ve been holding on to must be released. In Ephesians 4:22, You give us a practice that prepares us to continually receive and be a blessing. You tell us to throw off the old stuff that was leftover in our hearts and minds from the old life we had before. In order to go higher, we must put on the newness that Christ has made available to us. Where we used to be jealous, we must put on charity. Where we used to be afraid, we must put on courage. Our old way of operating in anger, fear, resentment, and negativity has to go. If we continue to hold on to the old things, our season of newness will be staring us in the face, and we won’t recognize it because we’re still blinded by our old sinful ways.
Sometimes when your season changes, your company has to change too. Some of the people we like to be around will no longer have a place in our lives. God will tell us, “No, they can’t go where you’re going, because I’m about to take you higher, and they want you to remain the same. If you continue to hold on to them, you won’t be able to grab on to Me.” Just because people are no longer playing an active role in our lives, it doesn’t mean that they are now our enemies. It just means that their season for influencing our thoughts, conversation, choices, and decisions may be over. Help us to realize this, Dear Father, and please help us to walk in Your peace about it. Please bless those who may find it difficult dealing with the fact that we will no longer be a big part of their lives; give them peace as well.
You never intended for us to remain stuck in the same situation year after year. Jesus Christ said in John 14:6 that he is the way, the truth, and the life. His way will cause us to step outside our comfort zones. In Luke 14:27, he tells us that we can’t be his disciples if we’re unwilling to pick up our cross and follow him. There are some sacrifices that we must be prepared to make, and there are some things we must be prepared to release and let go. Thank You for helping us to strip off anything that keeps us from going higher in You, so that we can embrace our new season of growth, blessings, and abundance.
Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, love, and grace. Thank You for saving us through Jesus, and for bringing us into Your family. You are so awesome and amazing, Most Holy God. Thank You for Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Please help us to be a blessing to Your Kingdom, and let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
