Spiritual Nutrition to Start Your Day!

As God’s people, we should make it our business to focus on the positive and steer clear of the negative. It’s no secret that today’s environment makes this more challenging, but it’s all the more reason why Christians should champion the goodness of God. And the one thing we learn very early in the faith is that we can’t fake feeling good. The knowledge of God’s goodness must be anchored deeply. We must be so convinced of it that faith becomes our very nature.

This doesn’t happen overnight. It takes practice. We must get up every morning with the intention to move throughout our day with Jesus in our hearts and minds. A good way to do this is to start our day with a big inspirational boost. The words of Jesus Christ in Mark 11:24(NLT) is one of my favs. It says, “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”

This is a powerful promise from Jesus Christ to the disciples. And to place this promise into context, we must know who the disciples were. They were individuals deeply devoted to the example of Jesus Christ. They were committed to following it. Those of us that have made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives, and have accepted him as our personal Savior, are his disciples. It is a privilege for us to take up our crosses and follow Christ every day of our lives. It can also be challenging at times, and this is why we need to start each day with a healthy dose of spiritual nutrition.

When you wake up each morning, let the first words out of your mouth be “Thank you, God for another day! Let your will be done in my life as it is in Heaven!” Wrap yourself in Jesus Christ by being intentionally about your day. Take the time to prayerfully and faithfully give your day to him. Allow yourself to feel the goodness and peace that Jesus Christ bring through the Holy Spirit, and let this goodness carry you through your days.■
