Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Son said in John 10:10(NKJV), “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” You sent Your Son to earth to make a more than abundant life available to Your children. Most of us would be happy with just an abundant life, but You’ve demonstrated through Christ that it is Your good pleasure to do the exceedingly abundantly. That’s how You do things. Through Jesus Christ, You’ve given us access to a more than abundant existence, not just in one or two areas of life, but in all areas You desire us to be fruitful, prosperous, and blessed.
We must also be aware that the enemy doesn’t want us to take possession of what You’ve provided. Jesus Christ tells us in John 10:10 that the devil is a thief. Jesus also tells us in John 8:44 that the devil is the father of lies, pulling all kinds of tricks, manipulations, and distorted underhandedness to swindle us out of the blessings You’ve promised.
You tell us in 1Peter 5:8(NKJV), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” You do not want us to be ignorant about the enemy’s tactics. He walks about the earth looking for an avenue to gain entrance into our lives. In Job 2:2, You asked the devil “Where did you come from?” and he replied, “From patrolling the earth, walking back and forth throughout it.” You wanted us to know that satan surveils our activities to see where we might be disobedient to Your Word, because disobedience gives him the opening into our lives that he seeks.
The more intent we are to serve and honor You, the harder the devil tries to stop us. One of the biggest ways that the devil tries to cancel our momentum on the path to destiny is through our minds. This is done by attacking our thoughts through the things that make us feel worthy. Things like our relationships, marriages, jobs, and finances are targets for him, because these things give us a sense of security in life, and the devil wants to undermine our security so that our trust in You is weakened. Heavenly Father, please help us to remain strong under such tricks. Help us to be confident that You are our sufficiency and Provider, and we must anchor our faith in You.
Please help us to remember that You have a plan and purpose for our lives. When things seem as though they are beginning to crumble, help us to remember we’re worthy because You’ve chosen us to be Your very own. Matthew 10:16 tells us that You’ve also commanded us to be wise and stay alert, to strengthen our minds and hearts with Your Word so that we stand strong in faith, no matter the circumstance.
In John 14:1, Jesus tells us to not let our hearts be troubled, but to trust You in all things. Thank You for always taking care of us, for showing us Your love, strength, and power as we seek to grow in You and trust You with our whole hearts. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
