Dear Heavenly Father,
So many people that I know personally are sad because they are not satisfied with their lives. Some of them have tried to accomplish goals but have failed. Others feel very alone, and they are down on themselves because they don’t have a significant person in their lives who has their backs. All they see is the discontent they’re experiencing. The danger of allowing sadness to takeover our attitude is that it becomes the lens by which we see the span of our entire lives. When we let this go for too long, sometimes the devil tricks us into thinking that You don’t love us. This is a serious attack on our faith, because believing in Your love by living it fuels our faith and keeps it alive. When we don’t believe in Your love, things slowly shut down.
You tell us in Colossians 2:7(NLT), “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” You want us to have deep roots in Jesus Christ, so that our lives will be built on him. Sometimes, Heavenly Father, we build our lives on other things and not on Jesus Christ. We build our lives on our jobs, relationships with people, and finances. These things are temporary, and You have warned us not to store up treasures on earth where they can deteriorate and be destroyed. You tell us to store our treasures in heaven. In order to store anything in heaven, it must be heaven-worthy. So, some of the things we treasure cannot be stored in heaven because they are not Godly. Heavenly Father, please help us to see this more clearly.
Sometimes, we are praying for and desiring things that are not good for us. We live in a “ME” generation where we want what we want, when we want it; and we don’t like to take “NO” for an answer. Humility begs us to make some alterations to this kind of attitude. We must want what YOU want for us, and we must have faith that in Your perfect timing, everything will work out for our good.
Heavenly Father, please help us to be courageous in the face of dissatisfaction. Through Your precious Holy Spirit, please dissipate our sadness as we continue to seek You and understand Your Will for our lives. Moses told Your people regarding their enemies in Deuteronomy 31:6(NLT), “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” This is Your encouragement to us living today. Life is an everchanging dynamic. Nothing stays the same. Even though our circumstances may not be optimum today, Your plan for our lives is still going forth. You tell us in Ephesians 3:20 that through Your Spirit that resides in us, You are able and willing to do exceedingly abundantly above anything we can ask or think. Please help us, Dear Father, to keep our focus and faith anchored in You through the Lord Jesus Christ and through Your Holy Spirit. Please let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
