An ‘All Clear’ From God

relationships

Matthew 16:19(NLT), “And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

You want to be married to a man that is compatible with you in all the ways that count to the Lord and to you as well. You’ve made your request known to God, but things are not progressing as you had hoped. It’s taking way too long in your opinion. So, what do you do? Have you waited patiently, or did you take matters into your own hands?

Many of us think, ‘Oh, I would never do that!” But in actuality, that’s exactly what many of us do when we don’t wait to receive an ‘all clear’ from God. Say for instance you meet a man that you’re attracted to, and he seems to be attracted to you too. He takes you for dinner at a very nice restaurant, and he’s a perfect gentleman. Afterwards, he invites you to meet him for breakfast the next morning at his favorite diner, the one with the best chicken and waffles in town. As the days progress, his attentiveness is making you swoon, and you think, “This guy is checking boxes I didn’t know I had.” All the right words are rolling from his lips. He’s racking serious points, but even though you’re mesmerized by his smoothness and swag, do you dive in heart first without getting that ‘all clear’ from Heavenly Father? Are you willing to let this one go if God says ‘NO’?

The message God speaks about marital partnership is loud and clear. He has a plan for us and He knows what is best. There are some families that are not destined to be joined together. It’s not about being less or more, it’s about God’s Will and Plan moving according to how He sees fit. Jesus Christ has given us the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. That’s a really, really big deal. We can forbid things to take place on earth, and these same things will be forbidden in heaven. By the same token, we can permit stuff on earth, and it will be permitted in heaven.

So, if we permit ourselves to marry someone that God has not sanctioned, sometimes we can end up binding some really horrific stuff. We could get bound up with all kinds of dysfunctions and generational curses, all because we leaped before seeking God. When we do this, sometimes we end up with a person that is so far away from who we thought.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus Christ tells us to seek the Kingdom of God first. This means that we don’t bind things unless we see if God wants them bound. We don’t loose things unless we received revelation that God wants them loosed.

Philippians 4:19(NLT) tells us, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” God takes care of all our needs, every last one of them. He has given us tremendous power through the Spirit of Christ within us, but just because Jesus Christ has given us the keys, it doesn’t mean we use them to open any door. We must show ourselves good and faithful stewards, not easily tempted by counterfeits that look the part, but are far from it. Let’s get an ‘all clear’ from God, and make sure that the person we choose is the person He desires for us. ■
