Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word tells us in 1Peter 1:6-9(NLT), “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.”
This passage gives us everything we need to face trials and tribulations that come with life on earth. You have warned us that everything isn’t going to be easy. The hardships we endure are sometimes heartbreaking, extremely disappointing, and more challenging than we could have ever imagined. The devil throws darts at us, that’s just what he does. They bring hard times that are designed to keep us from walking in the victory that Jesus Christ won for every person. But no matter the degree or length of adversity, we must hold on to the joy we have in You, even during those times where we might feel miserable.
Sometimes we can’t see a way out, and the pressure is too much. The sadness is piercing, and the enemy can mess with our minds and hearts to such a degree that we feel like giving up. You encourage us in Galatians 6:9(NLT) and tell us through the Apostle Paul, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Your faithfulness to Your Word is unwavering. You always do what You have promised, and You will never forsake or fail Your people. We must trust in this with our whole hearts.
We are never alone, Heavenly Father, because You are always with us. Psalm 46:1 tells us that You are our refuge and strength, and that You are a very present help in times of trouble. Please open our eyes to realize that You always want to help us. You want us to place our hope and trust in Your love and power. Thank You for allowing us to experience Your strength, so that we are confident in the reality that if You are for us, no one can be against us. Your help is all we will ever need. Every situation we encounter represents an opportunity to fall to our knees in awe of all that You are. It’s a chance to repent of our sins and to rejoice in gratitude for how much You love us and desire to take care of us. You never leave us in the storm. You guide us safely through it. As we lean totally on You, You will guide us through Your Holy Spirit and comfort us through Jesus Christ.
For those that are really going through it right now, Heavenly Father, please comfort their hearts. Please give them Your peace, for it is a peace that passes all understanding. Please teach them Your truth so their faith in You grows. Please use Your unlimited resources to help them continue to stand strong as they trust You more and turn away from fear and doubt. Thank You for Your favor upon our lives. Thank You for our precious and powerful Lord and Savior. Thank You for the extraordinary gift of Holy Spirit and thank You for all Your many blessings. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
