Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the rich bounty of Your blessings. Every morning that we arise with the soundness of mind and the activity of our limbs, we are blessed beyond measure. We live to see another day and have the opportunity to give You the praise You so richly deserve. Ephesians 1:3-4(NLT) tells us, “3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” You’ve given us all spiritual blessings and You have handpicked us out from among the world. You did this even before we entered our mother’s womb. How can we not feel blissfully blessed because of all that You have done for us?
In Genesis 1:27-28, You tell us that we were created in Your image, and You’ve given us authority and dominion in the earth. We are not robots that do everything they are told automatically. We are self-governing, and we choose the person we are going to be. Every choice we make affirms whether we are walking by the example of Jesus Christ or walking according to the standard of the world. But sometimes, Father, we are overwhelmed by the choices we must make. Sometimes our desires exceed our capacity to handle them. We want so much, and like the culture of the day, we want it on the double.
Heavenly Father, please help us to have the patience and wisdom to make good choices. We must understand that good choices are not always the choices that feel good to us. They press on us to make certain sacrifices, and to be patient as Your divine timing is worked out. For a very long time, many of us have tried to have it all, but everything has a season, and we must be flexible to wait for our harvest.
The thing about sacrifice is that it’s a requirement in order to gain some things in life. For some that’s a tough pill to swallow. We must sacrifice our timetable for Yours and recognize that life is about our relationship with You. It’s about the reality of Your purpose, Will, and plan going forward in the earth. Sometimes, our hearts are not as focused on this as they should be, but instead, we’re trying to rush our agendas through.
You tell us in Colossians 3:2(ESV), “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” By the truth of this verse, You are making it clear that our focus indicates what is most important to us. If we’re focusing too much on the things of this world, it means we’re not focusing on what’s important to You. Jesus Christ commands us in Matthew 6:33 to seek Your Kingdom and righteousness before any other thing. In simple terms, You come first! This is not a suggestion, it’s a commandment. Putting You first guarantees that we will receive the best outcome in whatever we attempt to do.
Please help us open our eyes to the reality that Your way always works best. You tell us in Romans 8:28 that You cause everything to work together for the good of those that love You and are called according to Your purpose. Help us to understand that when we are ambivalent and don’t know what choice to make, the best choice is to totally lean upon You, because You cannot fail and You will never lead us astray. Thank You for our precious and powerful Lord and Savior. Thank You for the extraordinary gift of Holy Spirit and thank You for all Your many blessings. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
