Dear Heavenly Father,
Sometimes we forget that we are not supposed to lean on our own understanding to figure things out. The world is a very confusing place. This is one of the reasons that You tell us in Proverbs 3:5 to lean on You, because You direct our paths and make sure we end up in the place that You have destined for our lives. The confusion and chaos of the world shows us that we can’t do anything without Your help. Everything that we are is because of the work You’ve done for us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:4-5(NIV) says, “4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God. 5 Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” Because of Jesus Christ, we can be confident in our ability to please You and to accomplish all the good things that You planned for us to do.
Many of us are doing a whole lot of complaining. We are upset about the condition of the world, and some of us are very unhappy with our own lives. This is because we are allowing outside voices and information to clog up our spiritual hearing. We are bombarded daily with negativity from social media and other outlets, and we are not taking control of what we allow in our minds and hearts each day. We are the ones that decide what we will listen to, and we decide what we will allow to come out of our mouths. You have instructed us to be very careful not to speak, think, or act like those that are not of Christ. It is times like these that we need to depend on Your direction most.
2Corinthians 2:14(NIV) tells us, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” This verse tells us that You lead us as though we’ve been captured and taken hostage by the victory of Christ; we’re caught up in it. We’re in a triumphant and glorious victory march, and You are employing us to spread the good news of what we’re marching about. Your Word is the sweet aroma of truth and righteousness. Your Word is power, and when we let it in our hearts and let it out of our mouths, we become the love we speak about.
Heavenly Father, please help us to see that we won’t get very far if we let the world shape and mold who we are. Your Word is the key to living the more than abundant life that Jesus Christ made available. You ALWAYS cause us to triumph in Christ when we follow his example. It is not difficult to choose to speak life instead of death. It is not difficult to encourage others in Your Word and to let them know that You will always help those who seek You diligently. Living and walking like Christ is the very best thing we can do for ourselves. Sometimes, we simply must make the commitment to disconnect from all negativity and zone-in to You alone. We must remember who we are and begin to live up to the glory of the blessings we desire.
Thank You, that we are captured in the victory of Christ! And for those that haven’t seen his light, please open their eyes. Please let them cross the path of someone that will speak a life-changing Word into their lives. Thank you for blessing our families and for helping families all over the world to have food on their tables and a shelter over their heads. Many are enduring tough times, Heavenly Father, and we pray they will see that You are their confidence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We can put our total faith in You, and You will never let us down, because You are our sufficiency in all things.
Thank You for our powerful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for Your precious Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
