My daughter’s birthday is Groundhog Day, and she gets a kick out of hearing what the prediction will be; six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Predictions are forecasts that provide an indication of future events. Sometimes they are based on facts and evidence, and sometimes they are not. Weather professionals predict the weather, and even a woodchuck who sees or doesn’t see his shadow gives a prediction, but predictions by these sources isn’t something we should hang our hats on. Sometimes predictions are very inaccurate, but this isn’t true when it comes to the prophecies and knowledge of God’s Word. Everything that God says is true. His Word will always come to pass, and His truth will never fail.
Many women are very anxious to know when they will meet their future spouses. Some resort to things like psychic readings and astrology. These methodologies are not representative of God’s Kingdom and can cause tremendous harm. Dabbling in the occult opens the gateway for demonic activity and oppression. This is not something any believer should mess with. Inviting these satanic influences into our lives means that we are motivated from fear and not faith.
In Hebrews 11:6(NLT), God tells us, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” We cannot please God without faith. We must trust in His provision, covering, and perfect timing. Not only this, but Hebrews 11:6 tells us that we must sincerely seek Him. This implies diligent effort on our parts. It means that we will make a commitment to stand on God’s Word and trust it no matter the conditions or circumstances. It means that we will develop consistency and endurance, even when our daily routines seem stale and we’re tired of doing the same things.
Often, this is one of the areas where many singles get off track. We are easily bored, and this makes the allure of predictions so enticing. When will we meet the right person? What will he be like? Will he be compatible? Will he have all the qualities you desire? These questions swim around in our heads and occupy our thoughts during otherwise monotonous routines. We like the break from sameness that predictions offer, and many of us hop on that train. God has all power in His hands. All blessings come from Him and only He can give them, yet rather than trusting His process—rather than becoming fully persuaded in the promises of His Word, some of us acquiesce to predictions from unreliable and dark sources.
The questions of life can’t be found in answers from other human beings. Jesus Christ is the answer to all our questions. He is the truth, and everything we will ever need can be found in him. God tells us through the Apostle James in James 1:5 that if any of us lacks wisdom, we need to go directly to the Source of ALL wisdom; we need to ask God who gives abundantly. He tells us that He won’t be angry with us for asking Him for wisdom, but He will give us the answers we need through Jesus Christ. He will tell us how we can more closely align ourselves with the example of His Son, and then God will lead us by His Spirit to make the changes we need to, and to do what He requires us to do.
God told His people in Isaiah 49:15(NLT), “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!” This is the answer to our questions about God’s commitment to bless us to cross paths with our destiny partners. God never forgets us, and He knows exactly what we need. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 6:8 that our Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need before we even ask. Don’t have fear about waiting on God. Trust Him, continue to pray and study His Word. Show Him your commitment to walk in His love, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
