Dear Heavenly Father,
The psalmist, David, wrote in Psalm 25:1-2(NLT), “1 O Lord, I give my life to you. 2 I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.” Father God, You are a God that sits high and looks low. You see everything, and You know every detail of our of faults, weaknesses, and sins. Even though we don’t deserve Your love, it never fails us. You love us unconditionally, despite our faults and shortcomings. You have our backs 100% and we can lean upon You because Your Word is true and unfailing.
Jesus Christ said in John 16:33(NLT), “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Your Son taught us that the world is not a friendly place to those who love Jesus Christ and follow him. There are individuals who treat us very wrong. They talk behind our backs, they gossip and tell lies on us, and they seek to undermine us so that we will be discouraged and broken. Even though these individuals have done things that have caused us pain, they are not our real enemies. They are being used by the devil to try to come against us.
You do not want us to be ignorant of satan’s devices. In Ephesians 6:12, You teach us that we’re not wrestling against a flesh and blood opponent. It is useless for us to attempt to fight another human being because of the wrong and negativity they waged against us. 2Corinithians 4:4 tells us that the devil has blinded them because they don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ, and the enemy is tricking them so they will not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. Ephesians 6:12 goes on to tell us that our real enemy is a spiritual one; it is the devil who rules over principalities, powers and rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places. We must grow up in Christ and recognize that our victory is in him! To stand strong in spiritual warfare against a spiritual enemy, we must put on the spiritual weapons You have provided us. We must read and study Your Word, follow the example of Christ, and be led by Your Spirit.
We can imagine how David must have felt, because he had enemies that tried to murder him on several occasions, but he said “God, I trust You!” Like many of us, he felt the pressure of being attacked by people, but he kept believing You and placing his trust in Your power and love. He said, “God, don’t let me be disgraced. Don’t let the evil one get the best of me.” David knew that his enemies worshiped idols and they did not honor You, our Heavenly Father, the One True God. So, David was encouraging himself in You. He was building his faith that You would have his back; that You would have the final say and would show up and show out for him.
Heavenly Father, just as you did not let David down, You will not let us down when we trust in You as we should. Jesus Christ is our powerful Savior, our Refuge. He commanded us to be of good cheer because he has overcome darkness and evil in the world, and through him we have the victory! It is true that sometimes we may find ourselves in situations where it looks like our enemies have won, but You have the last say! You hold our tomorrows, and You will not fail us.
Father, right now in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask that You bless those that are feeling defeated by the devil and are being attacked by him through the negativity of others. Please Heavenly Father, reassure them and send peace to their souls. Let them know they serve a God that is almighty and all powerful. You said through Your prophet in Isaiah 54:17 that no weapon formed against Your people will prosper. There’s so much evil in the world today that people have lost faith. Please build them up so they are confident that they are not defeated, because You are not defeated, nor can You ever be. You are sanctifying Your people and preparing them for the purpose You have in store. Thank You, in the name of Jesus Christ and in the name of Your Holy Spirit, for new blessings and new beginnings. Amen. ■
