Galatians 6:7(NLT) tells us, “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” What does it mean to mock the justice of God? Well, take for instance, whenever something tragic occurs, many people call it an act of God. They have been taught or led to believe that He causes bad things to happen. The reality is that the devil seeks an opening to reap havoc in the lives of people, and when he finds that opening, he steals, kills, and destroys. God is a Righteous Judge. He’s placed the earth and everything that happens here under our dominion. We can effect incredible change in the earth through our prayers, diligence, and commitment to follow Christ and obey God’s Word. Heavenly Father sent His Son to die so that we could walk with power and authority within the earth and expand God’s Kingdom. When we don’t do this as a united body of believers, the devil causes catastrophes. So, God is just beyond what we can fathom. His justice demands that we take our rightful place and recognize the power and authority we’ve received.
A dear friend stopped by to see me the other day. She was on her way home from visiting her mother and wanted to say hello. One of her girlfriends was with her. They had made plans to attend a retirement party together. Anticipating questions about why she didn’t bring a date, she was prepared to say, “I didn’t bring a date but I’m about to be someone’s fiancé.” The woman in the passenger seat seemed surprised by her comment. She asked my dear friend, “How do you know the man you’re dating will propose?” With conviction, she answered, “Because I believe it and God has promised it.”
It might not sound like a big deal to hear someone speak with such conviction, but when you have a made-up mind to believe God and put faith in motion towards what you desire, your whole outlook on life shifts. Jesus Christ said in Mark 11:23-24(NLT), “23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” If the words we speak are not in line with what God says, then our faith is not yet where it needs to be.
Confessing the truth is planting seeds on good ground. It is making sure they will grow and develop into what we have spoken. It’s God’s justice working according to the laws He has ordained. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. And when we hear it, we must back it up with the kind of energy and effort that takes the Word from hearing to thinking, from thinking to speaking, from speaking to acting. There are many women that have been misled, because they doubt God’s justice, but no one should ever do this. He has made you and me responsible for planting good seeds so that we will receive a good harvest.
All of us have the potential to do this, but most will not use this potential. They won’t move from stuck mode and to action mode. My dear friend was confessing the positive of God’s promises. We must do this continually. To get our seed deep in the soil of faith, where it can receive God’s nourishment, we need to dig deep. The greater the harvest, the greater our energy and effort must be. Justice means that fairness is administered. In other words, the scale is in balance. My faith and good works will not weigh more than the blessing I’m praying to receive. God is a just Rewarder. When we do what He says, He rewards us. Jesus Christ said in Luke 6:38(NLT), “The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
Galatians 6:9-10(NLT) says, “9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. 10 Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” We should never stop doing good. We must not ever give up on it. Instead, we must pray to God to increase our opportunities to do good, and to open our eyes to them when He does. Know that waiting for a man to find you worthy enough to put a ring on your finger should make you question your seed. This isn’t a harvest you want to be manifested year after year.
We must remember always that we are God’s children, and we are expected to put more importance, diligence, and commitment in our responsibility to God than the energy and effort we give to the world. We have the privilege and we have been commissioned to represent and expand His Kingdom on earth, and our lives will show us the degree to which we’ve done that. Heavenly Father will reward our diligent effort. He tells us this in Hebrews 11:6. So, if we want a sprawling, beautiful and hearty harvest, the seed has to match those qualities. Only what we do for God matters. Only what we do for Him will last. We must trust God with all our hearts, knowing that His Word cannot fail. We will not be disappointed when we heed God’s instructions. What He has promised, He is faithful to bring to pass if our faith is in Him alone, and we back it up with obedience and the commitment to follow His Word.■
