Dear Heavenly Father,
Romans 5:2(NLT) declares, “Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” How wonderful and glorious You are, Heavenly Father! Your mercy and grace endure forever! Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, You made a way for us to stand in a place that we couldn’t have got to on our own. We could not save ourselves. We couldn’t make ourselves clean, holy, pure, or righteous, so You sent Your Son to die on the cross for our sins. You cleansed us from all unrighteousness through his blood. Through Christ, You paid our debt in full, and purchased us back from the depths of death and darkness. Now because of all that You have done, we can joyfully look forward to the glorious future You have in store!
During the celebration of Your beloved Son’s resurrection, I wished a few people a “A very Blessed Resurrection Sunday.” Romans 10:9-10 tells us that the only way a person can be saved and receive eternal life is that we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we must believe in our hearts that You raised Him from the dead. Trusting and believing in Your resurrection power is extremely important, and if we don’t have faith in what You did by raising Jesus Christ from the dead, we can’t have a relationship with You. So, celebrating You and what You accomplished for us by resurrecting Christ should be in the heart of every believer. One of the people that I wished a blessed Resurrection Sunday did not feel this way.
One particular person asked, “Who was resurrected today?” Of course, I replied, “Jesus Christ!” In an unfriendly tone, she then asked, “How do you know that?!!!” I was reminded once again of 2Corinthians 4:4. It tells us that that satan, the god of this world, has blinded the minds of many people. They don’t believe the truth, they are unable to see the glorious light of the Gospel, and they don’t understand it.
1John 3:1(NLT) states, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” This is a hard pill for many individuals to swallow. They want to believe that everyone is a child of God, but that isn’t what You tell us in Your Word. You love everyone. Your Son said in John 3:16 (NLT), “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” You love everyone and You want everyone to be saved, but not everyone loves you. If this is the choice they want to make, you will allow them to make it, but they must face the consequences of that choice.
Our Master Jesus also said in John 10:27(NLT) “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” It’s such a tragedy to know that some people have no interest in getting to know You through our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Often, they are presented with an opportunity to come to Christ, but sadly they reject it. Heavenly Father, in these last days, please open our eyes to the glorious reality of what You’ve accomplished for us through Your blessed Son. Please remind us to open our mouths and witness to others about him whenever You desire us to.
Jesus Christ is our King. He left Your throne to come to earth to complete Your plan of redemption. People treated Jesus Christ horribly as he carried out his ministry. They refused to see his light and follow him. So, we should not be surprised that there will be those who are mean and angry at us because we represent Christ. Please help us to not be offended by those that are blind to Your goodness, instead we must pray for them. Let us not be shy about celebrating all that You are and who You have made us through Jesus Christ. You are our Abba Father, and words cannot express how thankful we are to be Your children. In the powerful and precious name of Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen. ■
