Don’t You Get It!

Genesis 1:27(NLT)
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

God called human beings, “man”, and He made man in His own image. This doesn’t mean that we looked like God’s Spirit. It means that He made us in the image of His nature. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and He created us to be spirit, soul, and body. He created us to have His characteristics, and this is a huge discovery for many people. It will completely transform your mind about your life because it demonstrates the extraordinary, limitless quality of God’s unconditional love. It also reveals His desire to have a relationship with us, His human children.

One of the most phenomenal qualities of God’s love is that His love doesn’t force. There’s no shoving in the way God deals with us. He’s given us the gift of free-will choice, and Romans 11:29(NLT) tells us, “For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.” He will never violate, overstep, or take away His gifts. He’s given us the ability to make our own choices and decisions, and we decide who we are going to be and what we’re going to do in life. Heavenly Father hopes that we will study how His love behaves and choose to imitate it, because this will yield the abundant life that Jesus Christ made available, but the choice to walk in God’s love is totally up to each of us.

One of our problems is that we haven’t used the principles of God’s love to govern our desires. Most of the time, we want what we want for our own personal gain, and we’re not really thinking about what God desires for us. His love demands that we be patient, faithful, and full of hope in Him, but for many of us, this isn’t our approach. It’s not until we’ve gone off on our own and gotten into a relationship with the wrong person that we realize that we should have walked with God on the whole matter.

We live in a society that is getting further away from God’s standard. Proverbs 19:21(NLT) says, “You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.” We are cheating ourselves by thinking that God is okay with us leaving Him out of this very important area of our lives. His purpose will always prevail, and His purpose is to see us blessed, healthy, content in life and whole through Jesus Christ.

God tells us in Malachi 3:6(NLT), “I am the LORD, and I do not change.” Our Heavenly Father is the Beginning and the End. He is all-knowing, all-powerful. He knows everything there is to know about us, as well as any person we may be thinking of as a potential partner. So, for single women that haven’t met their husbands yet, trust and believe that God knows exactly what you need. He is willing to help you avoid relationships that are traps, and your responsibility is to remain close to God, because He wants to cover your entire existence in His care.

God created us in such a way that we can have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. Colossians 1:15(NLT), “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,” and Romans 8:29(NLT) tells us, “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” Our identity is the very image of God’s Son. This is the blueprint of our design, but we don’t always behave as though we understand this.

God’s Holy Spirit indwells us, and he is our teacher and guide. The Spirit knows when we’re about to make another mistake. He’s saying, “Don’t you get it! You belong to God, and Jesus Christ is your Big Brother. When will you start behaving as if you believe this?” Our Heavenly Father doesn’t want our pleasure in life to be less. Quite the contrary. He wants us to be blessed and happy, and the way to achieve this will always be the same. It’s to love God, walk in the example of Christ, and to live by the power of the Holy Spirit. Everything else in life will line up when we make following God’s Will our motivation and priority in life. ■
