Entertainment news is notorious for making a very big deal when someone in the royal family is dating someone new. They will investigate every detail they can find on the person and cover it extensively. If you’re anything like me, you might ask yourself why would anyone be interested in something so private in a person’s life, but a lot of people want to know this kind of information. They want to know if the person is attractive, intelligent, and well-rounded. They are excited to hear the details because it involves someone of royal distinction. Well, we are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven and daughters of the Most Supreme and Omnipotent God. Entertainment news may not be interested in who we date, but Heavenly Father sure is, and He is counting on us to make sure that he’s related to the Prince of Peace.
Some of us single Christian sisters have become very cynical when it comes to finding a good man, but this is an attitude that really doesn’t serve us well. Think about something, there are thousands of couples getting married every day. Sure, there are lots of divorces too, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that women out there are actually finding love. Some of them are marrying men that they really will be with for the rest of their lives. It’s not a fairytale. It really does happen.
It is very important that we remain as positive as we possibly can, and demonstrate to Heavenly Father that we understand His desire to see us have the best. Each week, we hope we inspire you to do just that. We endeavor to encourage Christian singles in their desire to be married because it is an area that is so dear to Heavenly Father, and for this reason it is also under serious attack from the enemy. God’s vision and passion is carried forward in the earth through families. There are certain traits and characteristics that follow distinct bloodlines, and these are beneficial to God’s plan. This is why the devil attacks families and their unity so adamantly.
When you understand this, it shifts and elevates marital unions to a higher level of spiritual importance. We can begin to see it from God’s point of view, and it becomes more than just a personal desire. It’s destiny!!!
Whether we want to admit it or not, we have tried to control many aspects of our past relationships. We jumped too soon and quickly; we made emotional investments before consulting God, and we lost our cool far too many times. This is an indication that we may not have yet learned to surrender certain things and allow God room to move in this area of our lives. It is one of the main reasons why so many of us see widespread disappointment in our quests to be married.
1Corinthians 4:20-21 (NLT) asks a very telling question, “For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. 21 Which do you choose?” We can’t make the mistake of putting our marital unions on a worldly plane, where folks are captivated by the big entertainment news of the day. The Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk, it’s the real deal. You, as a daughter of Zion, are actually an integral piece of God’s plan, and every detail of your walk is important to Him. He loves you. You’re the apple of His eye, so quite naturally, He wants you to be primed, prepared, and persistent in your pursuit to please Him through your marriage.
Jesus Christ has brought us into a royal priesthood, one where we join in with heaven in praise and worship of the One True God. Even though you are on earth, through Jesus Christ you are joining in with the host of Heaven’s courts to honor Heavenly Father. Romans 5:2 (NLT) tells us, “Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” This is why it is so important to be at our best, because we represent heaven here on earth, and we have the privilege to share in God’s glory.
So when you think about the person with whom you will spend your life, you don’t want him to diminish your praise or nullify your worship. You are a part of God’s royal family, and you want the man that you will marry to know the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, intimately. So don’t settle in this area of your life. It’s too important. Pray without ceasing that the Lord will present you with a man from the Kingdom, so that together you will live by the power of God. ■
