The Warmth of Fullness

The other day, I cooked one of my family’s favorite meals, and right after, they were all saying they were so full and satisfied that all they wanted to do was lay down and sleep. That’s the kind of response you aim for when you whip up something good—you want everyone to love it and feel satisfied. It reminded me of the kind of fulfillment many single women are looking for in a man.

When our bellies are full, we feel satisfied and comfortable; it’s such a cozy feeling. Single women crave the warmth and coziness of knowing there’s a man out there who has their back, someone who will fight to protect and provide for them, just as they would for him. But here’s the thing: God wants His daughters to find that completeness in Him first and foremost. Colossians 2:10 (NLT) tells us, “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Our Heavenly Father wants our faith to grow to the point where we live and breathe this completeness that He’s given us in Christ, so we’re not out here looking for it in anyone or anything else.

This confidence in Christ draws marriage to us. We don’t have to wear ourselves out searching for what we desire. Our Heavenly Father has set everything in the universe to respond to our heart’s desires when those hearts are fully focused on Him.

When we know a feast is being prepared, most of us approach the table expecting not to be disappointed. We’ve already set our minds on fullness, picturing ourselves walking away satisfied and happy. Our amazing Heavenly Father has prepared a feast for us that’s beyond anything we can imagine—truly the best of the best. He invites us to sit at His table and enjoy life with Him, wrapped in His tender care and protection. Our expectations should match the greatness of His provision, but too often, our faith just isn’t quite there.

Instead of expecting to be filled with His love, grace, and power, we’ve conditioned our minds to feel hungry. Many of us approach the feast with a sense of apprehension, bracing ourselves for disappointment and expecting more loneliness. This mindset leads us to settle for less than what God has prepared. We might come to the table, but we don’t fully engage, thinking that our needs won’t be met. As Proverbs 13:12 (MSG) says, “Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around.” This attitude of disappointment and loneliness can manifest in various ways, whether through impulsive decisions or a lack of patience in our relationships.

Our refusal to wait on God’s timing reflects deeper doubts about His faithfulness and ability to provide. When we lean into these doubts, we miss out on the abundance He has for us. God desires for us to trust Him fully, knowing that He has a plan that exceeds our expectations and fills every void in our hearts. The warmth of true fullness comes from Him. As Philippians 4:19 (NLT) reminds us, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Remember, you are never alone on this journey. God sees your struggles and understands the deepest desires of your heart. When you lean on Him and trust His perfect timing, you open yourself up to a life rich with blessings. Let go of the doubts and fears that weigh you down. Embrace the beautiful truth that you are complete in Christ and have faith that God has an incredible plan for your life.

Follow God’s Word, stay patient, and watch how He transforms your hunger into true fulfillment. He will bring the right people and opportunities into your life exactly when you need them. You are more than worthy of all the good things He has in store for you. Trust Him with every ounce of your being, and let His love guide you toward the abundant life He promises. ■
