They say, “If we don’t have trust, we have nothing.” How often have we heard this in the context of relationships? It resonates deeply because trust is indeed the foundation of any lasting bond, the glue that holds it together. We grasp this principle in our human connections, but we often overlook how crucial trust is in our relationship with God. Trust isn’t only something we must place in Him; it’s something He also desires to place in us. God seeks individuals He can rely on—those who will handle His blessings with care and respond to His revelations with integrity and obedience. Have we ever stopped to consider if God can truly trust us? When He entrusts us with blessings, responsibilities, and even secrets, what does He find in our response?
Entrusted with Blessings
Think about the blessings God has given you. Each one, whether it’s a talent, a job, a family, or an opportunity, is something God has entrusted to you. Our Heavenly Father doesn’t give us gifts casually; He gives us blessings with the expectation that we’ll nurture, steward, and honor them. But like Adam in the garden, we can sometimes lose sight of our responsibility. God gave Adam dominion over all creation, entrusting him with authority over the earth. Yet when temptation came, Adam relinquished that trust and opened the door to sin and broken fellowship with our Heavenly Father. So, as stewards of God’s blessings, we have to ask ourselves: are we ready to honor what God has placed in our hands, or will we let distractions and pressures rob us of the trust He’s given?
Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NLT) remind us of the mindset we’re called to have: “For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.” We’re not here to please others or gain applause. God’s blessing isn’t for show; it’s for service. The real question is, will we live up to this calling by treating our blessings with respect, using them to serve His kingdom?
Keeping God’s Secrets
Sometimes, God entrusts us with more than tangible blessings; He places whispers of revelation, dreams, and divine secrets in our hearts. This isn’t just an honor—it’s an opportunity to prove our allegiance to Him. Imagine this: God gives you a word or a vision, something meant to stay private between you and Him, at least for a season. The natural urge might be to share it, to seek validation or advice, or simply to unload the weight of carrying it alone. But sometimes, God wants us to hold these treasures close, to stay patient and let Him decide when (and if) they should be shared.
The apostle John faced this in Revelation 10:4 (NLT): “When the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Keep secret what the seven thunders said, and do not write it down.’” John’s relationship with God was so intimate that he was trusted with revelations no one else was privy to, things we still wonder about to this day. God’s secrets weren’t meant to be spread casually. They’re like rare gems, precious and valuable, entrusted to those who can keep them safe until the right moment.
Ambassadors for Christ
God’s trust is both a high calling and a profound privilege. When we prove ourselves trustworthy with His blessings and secrets, we become true ambassadors for Christ, holding our calling with the highest honor. We understand that we’re shining his light not for personal gain, but to reflect his glory. Being faithful in these things means we’re part of something extraordinary. We’re not just recipients of God’s goodness, but He’s made us partners in His kingdom work, representing Christ and pleasing God with our whole lives.
If we commit ourselves to be dependable, honest stewards, and willing to carry His secrets without needing the world’s affirmation, we step fully into our calling. And there’s no greater fulfillment than knowing we’ve earned God’s trust, that He can count on us in every season and situation. Let’s press on with hearts that seek to honor Him in all we do, proving that yes—He can trust us. ■
