Hungry for a Breakthrough

“It’s time for a breakthrough!” You say to yourself after countless nights of tears, confusion, and waking up each morning wondering, When will it finally be my turn? One day, you will reach a point where you’re determined that wondering and questioning will no longer keep you in despair. Instead, they will become a driving force that keeps you motivated and enthusiastic about your future. You may have struggled through the silence, the doubts, and the waiting, but now, you feel it in your soul, you are standing on the edge of something greater.

Fasting is a powerful tool to receive clarity and answers from the Father. When we’re standing at the edge, often fasting provides us with the spiritual clarity and strength to reach out and grab what we desire most. It’s crucial to understand that there are certain chains and obstacles that won’t break or move unless we commit to fasting. Also, many of the answers to our deepest questions can only be unlocked through this spiritual discipline.

Jesus Christ tells us in Mark 9:28-29 (NKJV), “And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ So He said to them, ‘This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.’” Fasting is not just an act of self-discipline; it is a divine invitation to step into the realm of clarity and revelation. It’s a powerful tool that opens the door to deeper communion with our Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ makes it clear that some strongholds will only yield to the committed power of fasting, where we set aside everything in pursuit of God’s intervention.

If you want the enemy to release what’s rightfully yours, it’s vital to submit your flesh to the Spirit through fasting, dive deep into God’s Word, and pray with intensity. For some people, fasting may seem unnecessary, but the truth is clear. Luke 4:4 (NKJV) boldly reminds us, “But Jesus answered him, saying, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’” This powerful verse tells us that God’s Word is the true source of life. It sustains us far beyond what any earthly food can provide. There’s no doubt that our physical bodies require food, but our spirits hunger for the deeper, more lasting nourishment that only God’s Word can give.

Although to us, our breakthroughs may be connected to our heart’s desires, God connects them with the truth we need to hear and know in order to grow in Christ more deeply. He desires us to know and embrace His Word. Joshua 1:8 (NLT) tells us this: “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” Not only can prayer and fasting usher in the revelation we need, but it can also align us with God’s Will if we are patient and continue in faith.

If we’re hungry for a breakthrough, we may need to be hungrier for the truth that God wants us to receive. Our breakthrough often comes when we align our hearts with His Word and trust that seeking and surrendering to His truth is what actually prepares us for it. As we hunger for His wisdom and guidance, His truth transforms us, and it shapes us to walk confidently in the plans our Heavenly Father has for our lives. ■
